NEW YORK (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union has lost a quarter of its yearly donations after a major donor cut off $19 million in annual donations because of economic difficulties. Mr. Gelbaum was appointed to the Board on February 20, 2008 and became Chairman on January 12, 2009. Mr. Gelbaum is the co-trustee of The Quercus Trust which, pursuant to rights given to The Quercus Trust as the holder of the Company’s Series D Convertible Redeemable Preferred Stock and in accordance with the terms and conditions of a letter agreement between the Company and The Quercus Trust entered into in connection with The Quercus Trust’s purchase of Series F Convertible Preferred Stock (which automatically converted into common shares upon the conclusion of the Company’s special meeting of stockholders held on July 26, 2008), has nominated four directors to the Board. Mr. Gelbaum is one such director. Mr. Gelbaum has been a private investor since 2002. From 1989 until 2002, Mr. Gelbaum performed quantitative modeling for stock price returns and derivative securities for TGS Management, and from 1972 until 1989 he worked at Oakley & Sutton in a similar capacity.

Well, he had to get un-anonymous so he could line up for his bail-out.

Gelbaum, 60, lives in California and first donated to the ACLU in the early 1980s. His contributions started at around $50,000 annually and reached $22.5 million in 2008.
To help make up for the loss of Gelbaum’s money, the ACLU has received pledges of $23 million to be paid over the next three years, the Times reports.
And now that they outed the anonymous donor, he’ll never give again even if times get better.
That it’s only one quarter of their funding.
One man has brought such misery and destruction to America. How sad.
And how depressing that our system responds to one man's money to cancel out our individual votes.

This explains why the ACLU has been trying to drag Christ out of the public schools for decades! and why they have been doing their best to enable illegal aliens!
Notice that they are all throwing in with risky “envionmental” ventures with the expectation that the government will mandate and guarantee their fortunes. Hah!
But others, including us FReepers need to step up and replace his donations.
