Boston Globe Columnist Declares MA Senate Seat 'Winner' a Month Before Actual Election

Congratulations Massachussets!

You have just chosen the person last night who will succeed the late Ted Kennedy in his senate seat. The Boston Globe's Derrick Z. Jackson declared the winner a week ago on December 3 in this story, Coakley gets the keys to the Senate:

MARTHA COAKLEY will be the state’s next US senator. Michael Capuano handed her the keys to the late Ted Kennedy’s office by getting caught up in one last dumb shouting match with the sure loser in the race, Stephen Pagliuca. One can only imagine the smile inside Coakley’s head as Capuano and Pagliuca descended into a banter so banal that Pagliuca tried to nail Capuano as the Sarah Palin of the Democratic Party.

There is only one "little" problem with this story; the winner of the senate seat from Massachusets doesn't actually get chosen until January 19. What Martha Coakley won last night was the right to run in that general election as the Democrat nominee. However, that hasn't stopped the Boston Globe's Jackson from declaring her the winner of that senate seat.

The winner has been chosen on the pages of the Boston Globe. The general election in January is a mere technicality. Got that, you Bay State voters?

I just watched Carl Cameron on Fox;

Love Scott Brown’s comment; “This is not Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat - it is the people’s”.

He sounds like an AMERICAN PATRIOT!!!

What?We get to VOTE this time? The powers that be must be confident that we’ll vote the “right” way this time.

Uhhh, the Dem winner is the eventual winner. Mass elected social liberal Repus like Weld, Cellucci and Romney. That’s about as far right as they will go.

Well, it is MA. If we can somehow fool the dems to vote on a different day, the GOPer might have a fighting chance.

SOP for the Rat monolith. There are about 35% of us in this state that know up from down, it’s the other 65% that piss in the punchbowl.

With the potential Rat wipe out that 2010 SHOULD be, in almost any other state Scott Brown would have at least even odds to win. The contrast is clear between the two candidates.

Miracles never cease though; go Scott go!!!

I think there may be a possibility of a Republican winner. Democrats aren’t too happy and may not be motivated to vote. Republicans and some Independents are very motivated to get out and vote. It is a possibility and I will be praying for miracles.

It is that way in Detroit, too--the city is so overwhelmingly Dumocrat, that the "R" candidate doesn't really have a chance.

Perhaps that's why they call Detroit "The D." Or, maybe not...

Former Gov. Mitt Romney Friday declared that Washington is being run by "neo-monarchists" and the country needs a second revolution to restore power to the people. Romney, speaking at a fund-raising event for state Sen. Scott Brown, urged those in attendance to send Brown to Washington to help the revolution along.

He can’t not take help from Romney. And yes, Brown has said he is pro-choice. It’s either him or Martha Coakley who will cement a 60 vote stranglehold in the Senate for the Dems until 2010. Brown is not perfect, and maybe RINOish, but he is far better than the alternative, especially in MA.

Martha CroakMe has also come out as a cheerleader for Obamacare, saying that any national health care program must pay for abortion. In fact, during one debate, all four democrat candidates were arguing over who was more pro-abortion.

In an Obamacare situation, I think Scott Brown would stick with the Republicans. He's spent enough time as a minority member on Bacon Hill experiencing how much value democrats give to differing opinions....none.

I feel for the people from MASS. To have a choice between a Democrat and a pro-choice candidate...yieks! I would have to sit this one out. My eternal life means too much to me to vote for a pro-choice candidate. Best of luck to you Mass people who just got ripped!!!!

MA voters prove him wrong!

It’s up to MA to show whether or not they are the pre 1960’s one party south were the rat primary meant election.
