Huckabee reminds me of the politician in the Dead Zone or whatever that Christopher Walken movie was, who held up a baby to prevent himself getting shot.

The only way to justify that response is no different than people who try to say Obama isn’t a communist.

Grab your head out of your behind and look at the truth.

I believe in consistent sentencing. Reducing a sentence to 47 years for crimes committed while 17 is not a pardon and simply rectifies an unnecessarily harsh sentence. The rest of what you posted was irrelevant as he had already served the time.

If you want 17 year olds that commit burglaries to serve more than 47 years then that has to be consistently applied across the board. This is just demagoguery and piling on with the benefit of hindsight which Huckabee didn't have.

If you want 17 year olds that commit burglaries...

That statement is a complete disservice to the truth.

* Sentenced to 5 years for robbery in Pulaski County, Aug. 3, 1989.

* Sentenced to 8 years for burglary, theft and probation revocation in Pulaski County, Sept. 9, 1989

* Sentenced to an indeterminate amount for aggravated robbery and theft in Pulaski County, Nov. 15, 1989

* Sentenced to 20 years each for burglary and theft of property in Pulaski County, Feb. 23, 1990.

* Sentenced to 6 years for firearm possession in Pulaski County, Nov. 19, 1990.

The record shows Clemmons went on a crime spree in 1988-89.  In November 1988, Clemmons punched a 7th grader in the face and stole his necklace.  That resulted in the initial 5-year sentence.

Clemmons turned 17 years old in February 1989.  In April of that year, he broke into an Arkansas state trooper's home and stole $6,700 worth of items, including a gun.  A couple of weeks later,  Clemmons was arrested for bringing a gun on school property.

Less than two weeks later after the gun incident, Maurice Clemmons and an accomplice were arrested for two separate robberies on the same  night.  They robbed a woman in front of an Arkansas bar.  Clemmons claimed he had a gun.  The woman said, "Well, why don't you just shoot?".  Clemmons punched her in the head and snatched her purse.

35 minutes later, Clemmons and his friend hit a man in the head and stole his $500 gold chain in front of a convenience store.  They were also questioned about two other similar robberies and one attempted robbery that occurred the same night.

There were also three separate courtroom incidents in 1990 where Clemmons tried to use a weapon against a judge, threw a padlock at a bailiff, and tried to take a guard's pistol.  A judge ordered Clemmons be placed in leg shackles because he felt Clemmons has threatened him.  Clemmons also displayed very erratic behavior during the trial, mumbling loudly throughout the proceedings.  He also made an obscene gesture toward a state trooper testifying against him.  There is a definite pattern of showing a complete lack of respect, and a lot of hostility, toward authority figures.

Clemmons would not have been eligible for parole until 2015.  Mike Huckabee's commutation in 2000 made him eligible immediately.  Clemmons was granted parole just one month later.  He was sentenced to 108 total years for 8 different felonies.  Clemmons served only 11.

In addition to the multiple burglaries, Clemmons had committed VIOLENT robberies, stolen a state trooper's gun, attacked a court officer with a padlock, and attempted to take a guard’s gun. If he had succeeded, it would have been an Arkansas courtroom flowing with innocent blood, instead of a Washington coffee shop.

I am not faulting Huckabee for his lack of hindsight, I am faulting him for his pathetic lack of foresight. Violent felons, with records like Clemmons almost always commit more violent crimes if they are released.

Huckabee took a gamble on this psychopath and lost his reputation. Sadly, 4 police officers and their families lost infinitely more!

Huckabee rigged the outcome, but the people of AR have been rigging election outcomes for generations and always for socialist lites.

I could not believe that letter would come from a supposed professional; well I could have had it come from Obama or someone in his administration.

You made my point. a 17 year old burglar gets 108 yrs? Huckabee cut in half and rightly so.

Saying that he was a “burglar” is basically a lie. You make my point, you’re not honest.

One other damning fact against Huckabee is the truth to his lie that nobody from the court or law enforcement objected to Clemmons clemency petition. That is a flat out lie.

Clemmons clemency package has been released and available for all to read; I guess Huckabee didn’t think that would happen.

Clemmons original 108 year sentence had been restructured by Judge Marion G. Humphrey of the 6th Circuit Appeals Court of Arkansas.

The full court heard Clemmons appeal and upheld both the original sentence and the convictions. Judge Humphrey who has a reputation for being “soft on crime” held additional hearings on Clemmons sentence and restructured his original consecutive sentence to concurrent. This had the effect of turning 108 years into 60.

When Huckabee’s office received Clemmons clemency petition the ONLY person that was contacted and given a chance to object to clemency was Judge Humphrey. Although she had already reduced Clemmons sentence, she agreed with the clemency petition.

The original prosecutor, judge and officers involved were NOT contacted. When they learned that Clemmons was being considered for clemency they contacted the Governors office to object - their objections were ignored.

Huckabee isn’t the only one who allowed Clemmons to murder 4 officers.

That a judge would release Clemmons with an outstanding warrant, after being charged with the sexual assault of a 12 year old and assault on a police officer after another judge refused Clemmons bail will need to be answered for.

The people of Washington State should be demanding that judge be removed from the bench.

Well, as Huck might say, "Life goes on."

For some people, anyway.

Amazing! There seems to be no end to the Huckster’s spinning or the excuses his fans will make for him.

And Huck would release the animal to kill the four police officers all over again if he had to do it again.

And feel holy about himself for doing so.

It’s so past spin it’s amazing.

I don’t know what’s worse, Huckabee or those who keep screaming 108 years for a 16 year old robber!! The damned record is now released for anyone who has a brain cell and wishes to read it.

I guess it’s easier not to do their own research, at least if they listen to Huckabee explain things away, technically they aren’t lying. Their just repeating Huck’s lies.

Please stop for a minute and ask yourself a question - Why 47 years? Why not 45 years? Or 50? Or 48?

The answer is that 47 years is the exact number that made Clemmons eligible for parole.

Huck knew exactly what he was doing.

That might work for sheeple that only watch TV. I don't think I can buy that on a thread where the record has been posted a half-dozen times.
