Rogue American Woman (Dowd reads Sarah Palin's book)
New York Times ^ | 11/17/09 | Maureen Dowd

Posted on 12/08/2009 6:35:50 AM PST by reaganrevolutionin2010

Of course, the subtitle of Sarah Palin’s book is “An American Life.”

Because she is the lovely avatar of real Americans — ordinary, hard-working, God-fearing, common-sense, good, ordinary, real Americans.

If you are not living an American life, you are, to use a Palin coinage, living “bass-ackwards.”(snip)

I approached reading her book with trepidation, worried I might learn that I am not a real American, dang it, just another dreaded, jaded “enlightened elite.”

I had to read the article twice because I thought I missed the part of Dowd ripping Sarah to shreds. What gives?

Dowd read Palin’s book and wrote a column about - herself.

Isn’t that more than a bit strange?

That and the fact she empathized and agreed with Plain. Could there be an identification with Palin by women of all political leanings in the offing?

Yeah, that too.

Really, you can kind of look at the whole article like she’s saying “See? I’m almost like her too!”.

LOL!

Women like Dowd get hundreds of fake letters from "Republicans" - letters written by democrats trying to make all of us look nuts.

It's why the press was so stunned at the tea parties when they couldn't find any wild eyed nuts to interview.

Guess the next thing for ACORN or Union goons to do is dress up like Republicans and have CNN interview them with a real "tea party" as backdrop. Dowd and her "in the bubble" friends are easily played for fools.

And stop those stupid questions about Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Welsh birth preventing her from being VP. She was born in Hawaii and I have MADE the birth certificate to prove it. No, you can’t see it.

She has an inkling, at least, that Piper is going to be the next Piper “Quincy” Palin.

I've been hoping that Piper becomes the conservative antidote to Meghan McCain some day.

It seems like Dowd was trying awful hard to be critical but couldn’t find a whole lot to be critical of.

You nailed it—wrote a column about... herself.

Feelings, wo, wo, wo, feelings, wo, wo, wo, feelings, that I might be a nasty c****

The real insult about M.D. is that she gets paid well for writing drivel, and that people are expected to think she is clever.

Jane you ignorant slut (SNL 1970’s point-counterpoint satire).

".......just another dreaded, jaded “enlightened elite.” "

Sounds close to the mark, just a little airbrushed.

I noticed the "enlightened" adjective as well...since when?

Little early for a deathbed conversion, Mo. Either that, or she's seeing her Messiah Obama as the empty shirt we knew him to be.

Conservatives stayed home in droves in 2006 over the Pubbies inability to slow down spending. I'm expecting the Rats to stay home in larger numbers in 2010, thanks to Obama, Dingy Harry, & Pelosi.

I noticed that too- For a MoDo piece, it was surprisingly bland of vitriol against all things conservative.

Methinks Dowd actually learned something reading Sarah’s book. Scary - Dowd able to open herself to someone not associated with the tony Manhattan set? Do I sense a reapproachment in Dowd’s future. That would really be a challenge for her. Imagine Dowd becoming Sarah’s tour guide to the NYC set? Stranger things - as they say. I do believe the Dowd may be sensing the bammy’s novelty has worn off and the media needs a new story. As I said, quite a challenge - lets see if Dowd is “butch” enough to blaze a trail rather than follow one.

You have to read the review that her book got in the NY Times book reviewer blog. The guy liked the book. I think that they will be laid off next week and just wanted to get one last shot in at the Grey Lady.

There were some glaring things that Miss Dowd did NOT have in common with Sarah Palin. Such as being a Wife and Mother.

“I approached reading her book with trepidation...”

Did she think Sarah would say that the difference between her and Modo and Katie is that they slept their way to the top and she didn’t.

Modo just got slapped hard by the local cardinal. Maybe it woke her skanky butt up.
