“I hope that bastard is charged, thrown in the pokey and used like a loofa sponge by some guy who hasnt been laid in years”
With that, I would like to dedicate the following song to Jeremiah Wobbe:
“Prison Bitch” by Rodney Carrington

OOPS!
(There IS a God! Praise Him!)
LOL...it is one of the many reasons I DON’T watch television.
I had been watching less and less, beginning in the mid-nineties. The real kicker for me, when I stopped watching completely (except for the occasional NFL game) was in 1999 when they had three straight days of the Today Show with Katie Couric talking about how stupid Reagan was with the author of a biography on him.
Now, I am not a morning person AT ALL. I cannot wake up for a while, and am generally pretty grouchy, even if I don’t say a word for about the first half hour or so. Once I get something in my stomach, I feel somewhat normal.
The issue though, is my wife is not only a morning person, but a television person too. And she has the television on with the sound way up, and almost always on the Today Show, which I detested long before then. So I can’t avoid seeing and hearing the television in the morning.
Anyway, on the third day of this incessant lingering by Couric on the issue of Reagan’s stupidity, I walked by the television and got pissed, saying something like “What is it with these stupid a$$holes on the Today Show? This makes three straight days of discussion about how stupid Reagan was...”
My wife put her foot down and said “I don’t comment on the things you watch, say or do. You watch or listen to what you want, I’ll watch or listen to what I want. Keep your opinions to yourself.”
This was quite unlike my wife. We NEVER fight or argue, and I realized that if I wanted to keep the peace with my wife whom I love and respect, it was either make an issue of it or stop watching television.
So I stopped watching television.
I don’t miss it at all, and now, when I walk by and see things like “Survivor”, “American Idol” or “Two and a Half Men”, I feel like I see those for what they are...entertainment for people who don’t know how to think. It seems to me to be completely and totally devoid of any intellectual content.
It seems like indoctrination.
Granted, the time I would have spent in the past watching television, is now mostly time I spend on the Internet. But that is fine with me. I can learn about subjects I might miss completely.
For example, I have educated myself on global warming over the last several weeks since the emails came out. I knew that people had issues with the data, but now I have a working knowledge of exactly what some of those major issues are and the context around them.
In just the last 48 hours, I watched a video on superconductive levitation. Another one on Kevlar armor and how it works. I learned about gunshot detection software and how it is used. I saw a 15 minute video of San Francisco in 1904...beautiful video, very good quality, and I was introduced to a wide range of realizations about that time in history just from watching that video. No narration. Just video taken from the front of a streetcar going down the street.
And so on. It is like a smorgasbord for my brain. I just cannot sit in front of a television anymore. Sure, I can rent movies and watch them. But watching television? We don’t even have cable.
Interestingly, when I go on a trip and end up in a hotel, I check out cable television. In my opinion, it is a vast wasteland that you could click around forever without finding anything interesting. Sure, the History Channel is interesting and informative, and the military channel is...well...educational to watch as well. Otherwise, it seems like 248 channels of pure pap.
The point is, I am not being fed stuff by something someone wants me to see, in a format they want me to see it, with a message they want to convey. Sure, that happens on the Internet too, but on television, you are stuck with one point of view. On the Internet, you can be exposed to many different aspects of an issue, not just the ones that CBS, PBS or CNN want you to see.
When I sat down and watched that football game, I had to submit to seeing Barack Obama if I wanted to see the game. And that irritated the crap out of me. I like being free of it.
This was just a matter of time. The screwball liberals always try to throw pies and all kinds of other $hit at conservatives. They are so civilized and tolerant !
Who is the Hero who Threw Tomatoes at Sarah Palin?. . . If anyone has information on the tomato-wielding Real American Hero Jeremy Paul Olson, please email us. Who is this man? What motivated him to throw tomatoes at Sarah Palin? And most importantly: How could he miss!?
Jeremy Paul Olson, we salute you.
I bet they pull this down fast....
I’d love to bust that guys nose like a ripe tomato.
This rang a bell. I don't do mornings, my liberal spouse does. I have my computer just across the room in the corner. My wife loves television. I told her I have learned something here. This being to just tune out my remarks.
There just over, was Joy Behar interviewing Levi Johnston. She was trying to squeeze out any personal things including the sleeping habits of Sarah and her husband. Behar then told this man, he was a "gay icon". Talking about posing and so on.
I knew it was doing no good to make remarks. I managed to keep my mutterings down about Behar. Excuse the long screed. I do not believe I will ever bother again to scrap with my wife over the (blasted) television.
Your post virtually did it. (chuckle). Wife thinks Behar is a lovely woman. I now think that from being a chatty sort of entertainer, she is ....... oh well, I quit.
LMAO....all he’s missing is some lipstick.
Here's a photo, for a start. ;)
Like the accompanying quote? I felt it added a little... "something." ;)
You and I, my FRiend, understand the meaning of what love is...:)
You sound like you are very happy with just the net.
I like it too but until Jan. 8th (retirement date.) I have to limit my time there. I love what I can find there.
I plan on becoming more politically active as I will be free to roam my state and support those conservative candidates!
Yep.
