Journalists.....and the "tonge in cheek" dinner Gridiron Dinner...
See below - the posting below is the speech Governor Palin (I am told) gave last night to the big media dinner in Washington, DC. I was not at the dinner but the speech was just emailed to me by someone who did go (no, Governor Palin did not email me her speech...)
Congressman Barney Frank also spoke and I would love to likewise get his speech and post here. The speeches are supposed to be funny ...and poke fun at everyone and everything.
Here is Gov Palin's speech to the media last night:

Good evening. Its great to be in Washington and I am loving the weather.
I braved the elements and went out for a jog! Or, as Newsweek calls it, a cover-shoot.
Its a privilege to be here tonight at the Washington DC Barnes & Noble.
Tonight, I'll be reading excerpts from my new book.
Perhaps youve heard of it?
Going Rogue
Yukon wasnt sure if Id go with that title and somebody suggested I follow the East Coast selfhelp
trend and go with, How To Look Like A Million Bucks For Only 150 Grand.
Todd liked, The Audacity of North Slope.
Hey, I considered not having a title at all.
Ive said it before, but you Beltway types just dont seem to get it. You dont need a title
to make an impact.
But anyway, lets get started.
Ill begin my first reading on Page 209.
Rest of it is at the link....

Well........
One of those “wish I was a fly on the wall” moments;
“I dont want to say that the U.S. Government is taking over the role of the private sector, but I
have to admit, on the flight here, thumbing through a magazine and looking at a photo ofPresident Obama with the President of China, the person next to me pointed at it and said, Hus a communist.
I thought they were asking a question.
Still, when I see this administration in action, I cant help think of what might have been.
I could be the Vice President overseeing the signing of bailout checks. And Joe Biden would be on the road, selling his new book, Going Rogaine.”
Geez, good thing my coffee cup is empty!
Anybody got a video?
Wow, what a speech! Somehow, though, I doubt the media people actually found it funny at all. Only those in ‘the club’ can make fun of them, and no way Sarah has become part of their ‘club’.
Go Sarah!
The Russian Embassy joke is missing. Must have been an ad lib.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
Great post!Real good speech. Way to go, Sarah!
Good for her!!! Good for us all that she’s out there speaking for us.
It takes a lot of intelligence to convey humor like that in both writing and delivery. Contrast that the OB’s flat monologue at the Al Smith dinner last year.
It also takes being yourself, even in front of your enemies. Takes a lot of self-confidence to do that. Obama is so contrived and phony he comes across (to me, anyway) as almost goofy sometimes.
Contrast that to Palin and even McCain at that same Al Smith dinner you mentioned. McCain was funny as heck that night.
A sense of humor is certainly an index of intelligence, but it is more profoundly indicative of a sense of perspective. Sarah Palin certainly possesses such perspective. The reason Obama struggles with humor is because his perspective begins and ends at the end of his nose.
WOW - love this picture!! I’ve emailed it far and wide!!!
I hate that stupid diner. Even if some of it is funny, I don’t like our leaders acting like buffoons.
Sarah visited the troops at Walter Reed before heading to the midwest for additional book signings...
Bookmarked
She's cutting it close to get to Iowa by midday.
