Two thousand brave cold, snow for Palin book signing in Fairfax
The Washington Post ^ | 12-05-09 | James Hohmann

Sarah Palin brought a taste of the Alaska winter with her to a Saturday book signing at the BJ's Wholesale Club in Fairfax. After alternating between drizzle and rain for much of the night Friday, snow flurries began in earnest about 8:30 a.m.

"I wanted to feel like I was at home" Palin said, as she walked into the store while the first snowfall of the season soaked a crowd of about 2,000 people who came to meet her.

I don’t know why I feel like an adolescent kid when I see her. She looks good in anything.

I have to keep reminding myself—this is President No. 45 yer lookin’ at!

a crowd of about 2,000 people who came to meet her

That's probably about the average number of subscribers that the Washington Post loses every week. LOL.

There’s been a handful of protesters at a few of the book signings. From the pictures I’ve seen of them it doesn’t look like more than 10, with a couple of signs. I think it was in Springfield that a story mentioned 1 protester. Some lefty blog was calling on its viewership to go out and protest today. So far their efforts have been pretty pathetic. I was hoping Organizing for America was going to send out emails to organize protests. I’m guessing since the 9-12 counter protest only drew 150 people after a few months of organizing, they didn’t want to make themselves look even more foolish.

Fairfax still has a bedrock population of transplanted Midwesterners and Souvrnr's.

There are probably a lot of LEGAL aliens here that you mistake for ILLEGALS. To start with we have about 25,000 Afghan people, then there are the Salvadorans (on parole), and a whole big bunch of folks leftover from when their countries had revolutions and they were working at the embassies. They get to stay here.

I think most the folks at the World Bank and in embassy security live here.

The comment about visiting only friendly cities was very humorous. I would love to see her visit West Point and see what sort of a welcome the cadets give her. I doubt if she believes West Point is enemy territory.

The article states that the weather put a damper on planned protests.

That's because they are FAIR WEATHER PROTESTORS.

If the weather is fair, and you are paying, they will be there.

Well, at least Todd won't have to worry about Barney trying to play grab*ss.

“The comment about visiting only friendly cities was very humorous.”

I’d be willing to bet that if Palin did book signing events in NY city, Washington DC, Chicago, Seattle and even San Francisco, she’d still draw big crowds.

“What might they be protesting?”

Well, at one place a couple of English women who claimed to be authors were protesting about how many books she was selling, and there have been some pro-abortion people out waving signs, and some obots for government health care. Kind of silly, and pathetic.
