Just announced live - waiting link
I am afraid you are incorrect. The law of the country where the crime is committed obtains, and the nationality of the defendants is of no moment. This case was tried in an Italian court under Italian law.
How about in this one ?
Looks like there's blood or a TATTOO on her wrist. GUILTY!
Honestly...whether this girl literally took part in the brutal gang rape and stabbing of her roommate to death or not...and regardless of what the ULTIMATE verdict comes down to: I don’t think it’s fair to portray her as this sweet, innocent angel (as our media has been) either.
Sure, maybe she shouldn’t get 26 years in jail, or even 2...but she should by no means be beatified into a saint.
A lot of the American responses alert me to how desensitized our culture’s become. Without knowing anything about the actual judicial process, people are quick to defend a girl who habitually engaged in ‘normal’ behaviors like sexual orgies, rampant drunkenness, and hard drug use. This girl claimed to be within feet of where the crime took place but changed her story over and over because she was “too high” to remember exactly what happened in detail and whether she heard screams or not.
People have condescendingly called some of the more conservative Italians in that town “prejudiced” for being shocked and turned off by those things alone!
Not to mention the murder/rape short stories she wrote on her Myspace blog, her strange behavior in the days following the murder and then in court, etc...

Again, none of those things make her a murderer...but it certainly doesn’t make her a saint. This girl needs to clean up her act!
Here’s the video of Meredith Kercher’s family responding to news of the verdict: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYmbGtdQSag
Sir,
you fail to remember jurors wearing italian flag colors in the courtroom.
There clearly was anti-Americanism going on here.
As for the other convictions, the evidence was stronger for their involvement.
Here are the specific pieces of “evidence” that was used to convict her. Found the post on the other Knox thread.

General and circumstantial evidence:
- Alibis changed several times.
- Inconsistencies in alibis, which still remain.
- Alibis contradicted by 3 independent witnesses, and by analysis of computer hard drive.
- Witness saw them both outside cottage with knives that night.
- Cell phones switched off early in evening, contrary to normal habits.
- Break-in was faked, nobody but Knox and Sollecito had a motive.
- Washing machine was run on morning after murder, and cleanup attempted long after Guede had fled.
- Victims injuries point to more than one attacker, as do footprints and witness hearing running feet.
- Highly improbable story of Knox showering in house on morning after murder, unworried by broken window, open door, blood stains, unflushed toilet.
- Lie by Sollecito about phone call from father that evening.
- Lie by Sollecito about Meredith being pricked with knife while cooking.
- Lie about what time they called the Carabanieri.
- Knox had knowledge about manner of victims death even before the police knew.
- False accusation by Knox against Patrick. Knox told mother shortly afterwards that Patrick was innocent, but neither made any attempt to tell police or lawyers.
- Knox may have been on bad terms with victim.
Forensic evidence:
- Knife with victims DNA in Sollecitos apartment.
- Sollectios DNA on victims bra, possibly Knoxs DNA on victims bra.
- Knoxs blood mixed with victims blood: in bathroom (3 places), hallway, room with faked break-in.
- Footprints in blood compatible with Knox in hallway, cleaned after murder, revealed with luminol.
- Footprint in victims blood compatible with Sollecito on bathmat.
- Print of womans shoe compatible with Knoxs shoe size (not victims) under victims body.
- A number of forensic experts called by the defence were unable to dent the prosecution case.
Background (not evidence in itself, but supports evidence):
- Knox: heavy marijuana and alcohol user, casually slept with many men. Fined for wild party in Seattle. Cold, abnormal behavior after murder: She f-ing bled to death. Laughing, kissing, making faces in police station soon after murder. Day after body discovered Knox shopped for sexy lingerie, kissed in public, talked about wild sex. Cartwheels in police station waiting room. Didnt attend memorial for victim, went for pizza instead.
- Sollecito: arrogant and spoiled, marijuana and cocaine user, collected knives and always carried a knife with him. Collected violent, pornographic comics. Collected besiality porn. Had poster of serial killer on his wall. Wanted extreme experiences.

Utter drivel.
Flag colours?. Well, I will give you credit for an inventive conspiracy theory.
There has been no anti-americanism in this case, unless you are a paranoic who thinks the world is out to get ‘sweet all-american girls’.
Rubbish. That was 12 years ago, barely anyone remembers it.
Give me a break!.
The British press was able to put pressure on an Italian court?. In what universe?.
Nope.
I closely followed the trial via various media. And the evidence.
You might try it sometime, instead of believing the world is out to get innocent Americans.
Pardon me?
To boycott a country (esp one which is as beautiful and friendly) as Italy, a pro-american nation BTW, because they jailed an American?. Even if you think the verdict is wrong, to boycott a country just because of that is silly.
Do I boycott America because OJ didnt get sent to prison or that I was appalled at the Rodney King officers acquittal?. No, of course not.
6 of the jurors wore red, white and green sashes....the color of the Italian flag.
Did you not hear about that?
Thats what jurors in Italy wear!. Its tradition and part of Italian trials.
There are only 6 civilian jurors on an Italian jury, btw.
I don't believe the evidence that you have presented is accurate. Most of it is pure speculation. The DNA evidence has been refuted by her experts. I find the comments about the boyfriend to be particularly low. He had manga comics which are popular all over the world. Yes they are violent, but there are plenty of movies that are much much worse. He is a spoiled rich kid!? I know his family is rich. How do you know he is spoiled? The cocaine and marijuana user smear is really spiteful. Millions of young adults around the world use these drugs recreationaly. It doesn't turn them into animals.
I believe the prosecutor (Guilano Mignini) is a nutcase that is more concerned about his reputation that justice. He is just like the prosecutors in Wenatchee, WA that railroaded that poor family into jail with fabricated evidence. He is obsessed with witchcraft, devil worship, and child molestation just like the prosecutors were in Wenatchee, WA. This is just a modern day witch trial.
What will you say when they exonerate and release her and her boyfriend in couple of years? Will you still believe in the Italian justice system?
They railroaded these two kids into jail. Plain and simple. At some point the truth will come out.
Never heard of Amanda Knox ‘til this moment.
I guess that’s what I get for never watching cable “news”.
I think we may have a winner. That's the likeliest explanation for what really happened that I've read so far.
One thing's for sure, whether she's innocent or guilty of the actual murder, it's quite disturbing to see so many seizing on the fact that she had a penchant for promiscuous sex to use as proof that she's capable of murder. Liking wild sex has absolutely no bearing on one's capacity for homicide. There's a strong odor of witch-hunt associated with this case that I'm very concerned about.
If she is innocent, why did she try and frame an innocent man?. If she is innocent, why did she and Sollicito change their stories?.
I know it easier for you to believe that they jailed here just because she an American, and that the whole world hates you, and is out to get ‘Yanks’ where they can. But I also followed the case, and I dont buy the sweet innocent American abroad act. IMO she was an is a devious and manipulative murderer.
You say frame, the police say implicated. That is a huge difference. Maybe someone saw a black guy exiting the area and the only black guy they were familiar with was the bar owner? I don't know. I wasn't there in the interrogation room and neither were you, so neither of us are sure what was said. The couples defense lawyers deny that they changed their stories.
What did the black guy who actually committed the crime say? I don't believe that he claimed the young couple were involved.
“failed child blah blah blah”.
Not as bad as a failed free republic poster. You have failed miserably in making irresponsible statements and apparently giving huge deference to police that abuse, indicted prosecutors that take their night time nightmares and spin them as truth in the daylight, and the other aspects of Italian medieval justice.
