Sarah Palin Flip-Flops on Obama Birth Certificate

Sarah Palin scrambled away from the birther movement last night after giving them a wink and a nod on a conservative radio talk show yesterday. Posting on her Facebook page at 1:16am, Palin writes that, "at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States." She tries to dismiss her birther flirtation as just an acknowledgment of voters' right to know: "Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child."

Well ... three problems with her explanation.

First, here's what she said when asked if she would raise the birth certificate issue in a presidential campaign (emphasis mine):

I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue. I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers.

The key word there is "rightfully," which in this context means that it is right--as in correct or proper--to ask the question. She didn't say that the public has the right to ask, she said that it's right for the public to ask. That's an Alaska-sized difference.

Meanwhile, you can't site any of the journalist who descended upon her doctor and her lawyer, where they say said they never saw the birth certificate of her son before dropping the story.

I understand that reading comprehension is hard.

I understand that picking one sentence out of several posts in a feeble attempt to make your argument is tempting.

I do not understand why you can’t admit you are wrong since I very clearly repeatedly stated that I would not show his records if he were my child and that I don’t think she should show it.

She is in the same boat because she was asked to show the records and didn’t, just as he has been asked.

If you can’t understand why this is a demonstrably bad argument - to say Sarah Palin did something that she did not do and to try to use it as a club to whack Obama with (she showed it so he should, too), I can’t help you.

All I can do is suggest you sit back and bask in the golden glory of the massive success that this type of wrong thinking has brought the BC movement so far.

Well, several of the Alaska blogs have noted her failure to produce the BC, as has Andrew Sullivan. Given their leftward bias you may choose to ignore those sources, but I don’t see anyone posting information to contradict them.

If anyone can convince me that handlers knew back then that Obama would become president OR hackers could possibly fabricate the announcement decades later, then I’ll also believe the Great One is a fraud. A legitimate newspaper announcement just like an obit, is real to me. I absolutely detest this amateur but I believe he was born in Hawaii. Why he doesn’t produce the birth certificate is beyond me except that maybe he is hiding something that is on it that he doesn’t like - like maybe the father’s name or something.

I don't think she flip-flopped. The problem was that she didn't articulate her position well on the radio show, probably because it was an argument she seemed to be making up as she went along.

Her statement on Facebook was better stated, and it's clear she's not on the side of the birthers. She's exactly where she should be.

Pelosi signed the DNC Certification(s) a week later on August 28, 2008.

The Senate, Secretaries of state and the Electors FELL IN LINE after the election in December 2008 through January 2009.

REALLY, who would dare OPENLY question the first black President who seemed so loved by supporters around the time of the Inauguration?! If they DARED oppose Obama on such a question, they MOST SURELY would have been called a RACIST or a NUT, just as others who questioned Obama's credentials have been maligned! "Just give the man a chance," and "It's about time we had a black president," were some of the many mantras the MSM & other Obot enablers kept repeating earlier this year.

And with a little help from Rep. Abercrombie of Hawaii, Pelosi, Reid and other schills running interference along the way who have MUCH to gain — and EVERYTHING to LOSE if there IS a TRUE and VALID investigation of Obama's eligibility (via his birth certificate and/or his FATHER's British citizenship) ...
... kinda like those who would profit from "global warming" ...
