Former Republican Congresssman John Hostettler announced today he's launching a bid to challenge Indiana Senator Evan Bayh next year. Hostettler represented Indiana's 8th Congressional district for six terms from 1994 to 2006, eventually losing in a landslide to Democrat Brad Ellsworth.

Good! I sent Bayh a note last week and told him that he would be out of a job next year. His health care reform vote was the last straw.
Does he have a prayer of unseating Bayh?
Great idea for a campaign slogan!
This might be Bayh’s first real race in years.
I can’t imagine he can win over Bayh unless the anti-Obama backlash is especially strong. I hope for the best. John is a stellar conservative.
GOOD! Let’s remove the fortunate son!
I’m gonna pray that he does.
Oh, Hostettler. Sorry.
That’s the question. Everytime a worthy opponent runs against Bayh he loses convincingly. Frankly unless Bayh screws up big time, or someone can get through to Hoosier voters, he’s got a job for life (see “Lugar, Richard”).
It is my hope that Lugar finally retires and Mike Pence replaces him.
I’m not too sure he hasn’t screwed up with his healthcare vote.
Yes, he has a chance...Bayh took over the seat that Dan Coats vacated. The state has not swung significantly to the left since that time, the Obama victory in the state notwithstanding.
Hostettler will inspire a lot more enthusiasm among the GOP base that did the lackluster, underfunded campaigns of (RINOs) Paul Helmke and Marvin Scott. Hostettler will have strong credibility with the Tea Partiers and similar patriot groups. He was way ahead of the GOP mainstream on out-of-control spending, unconstitutional government, and the coming entitlement collapse.
Despite being eligible, he has refused to take a federal pension or remain within the Federal Employee Benefit Plan. The Evansville (IN) paper reported this last fact as evidence that he was a nut. What sane person would refuse a handout from Uncle Sugar?
Ex-Rep. John Hostettler to run against Sen. Evan Bayh in IN.
We Hoosiers are for the most part, conservatives. Hosteller needs to expand on Bayh voting almost straight line with the dems. I have written him telling him he doesn’t represent his Hoosiers here at home. He always responds with a letter that makes no sense to me. Hosteller has my vote.

I live in Indiana, and I believe Hostettler actually has a decent chance of beating Bayh. Hoosiers are not too fond of the health care bill or concerned about “climate change”. We’re more concerned about the economy, limited government, and family values. If Evan Bayh votes for either Cap and Trade or the Health Care bill, he will be out of a job. If nothing less, this puts a lot of pressure on Bayh to vote for Hoosier values and not along party lines.
Kinda like the idea of Santorum running for President.
He was creamed in 2006 after never having a solid hold on his district. (bad constituent service or something?)
I guess he’s a higher tier candidate than Marlin Stutzman though.
Imagine that! The Evansville area hasn’t had one of its own in the U.S. Senate since Vance Hartke. Hostettler’s chances are no worse than the other Republicans who are running.
Where in Indiana are you?
Hostettler is a loser. He graduated from Rose-Hulman (As did I) and I met him at at Rose alumni meeting. We all had to stand up and state our names and employer. He stated that his employer was the federal government (Not the people but the government.)
A congressman who thinks that his employer is the government and not the people.
I returned to Evansville when he was running against Ellsworth. Hostettler refused to let Bush help him and tried to distance himself from the WOT. His sister was his campaign manager (Nepotism anyone?)
Hostettler is worthless, RINO, lazy, and soft.
