CINCINNATI (AP) -- Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is praising President Barack Obama for showing political courage on Afghanistan.
The Georgia Republican said Wednesday that Obama's plan to send 30,000 extra troops to Afghanistan is the right step, and that Tuesday's speech at West Point showed the president was facing reality.

Being one of hundreds of thousands that served in Viet Nam I can tell you what this abomination of a CIC really said to the troops.
OK people I want 30,000 of you to get on the plane and go eat dirt for get shot at for18 months and whoever is left at that time can come home. Oh, and I dont want to hear any of that “do we get to win” stuff either. I’m smarter than all of you, I won the nobel peace prize, and have deliberated on this for three month. I am a experienced community organizer and Bush screwed the whole thing up anyway. I am the commander and chief now deal with it.... BHO

Yes, exactly, he told the troops for the next 18 months you guys/gals are going to march in place and keep getting killed and then we bring you home, dead or alive, meanwhile we are sending another 30,000 troops so your odds for survival will be slightly greater with the fresh cannon fodder I am sending. What ever you do don’t capture any terrorist or actually hurt them because you will be brought up on charges if you do. Deal with it.
