Well, you can keep doing the same thing that lost last time, and then cry about it. Or you can try to peel off a few percentage more by being actual Republicans.

John McCain was the media's favorite darlin' because he sold out to gain their mavericky favor. But as soon as he was nominated he couldn't buy a friend in the media because he's a Republican. That didn't work did it.

John McCain "compromised" a lot so that he would appeal to the middle. But the middle came up 55 million votes short. That didn't work did it.

Maybe it will sink in at some point.
