O'Reilly Tonight: Climategate
http://stossel.blogs.foxbusiness.com/2009/12/01/oreilly-tonight-climategate/ ^

I’ll be on O’Reilly tonight to talk about the recent Climategate e-mails. How bad are they? They show that scientists at Britain’s Climate Research Unit – which the UN IPCC relies on for temperature data – tried silence dissent. From the Washington Post:

In one e-mail, the center’s director, Phil Jones, writes Pennsylvania State University’s Michael E. Mann and questions whether the work of academics that question the link between human activities and global warming deserve to make it into the prestigious IPCC report, which represents the global consensus view on climate science.

… “Kevin and I will keep them out somehow — even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!”

In another, Jones and Mann discuss how they can pressure an academic journal not to accept the work of climate skeptics with whom they disagree. “Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal,” Mann writes. . . .

Many of the worst e-mails are between Michael Mann, a Meteorologist at Penn State University who worked with CRU researchers, and CRU director Phil Jones. PSU has launched an investigation into Mann’s e-mails, the student newspaper reports.

Good. Here’s what Mann wrote about skeptical academics who asked for the programming code he used for climate models.

Please feel free to use this code for your own internal purposes, but don’t pass it along where it may get into the hands of the wrong people.

And when Jones asked him to “delete any emails you may have had with Keith... Can you also email Gene and get him to do the same?” Mann replied, “I'll contact Gene about this ASAP. His new email is ___”

OReilly has been a fan of AGW for a while. Should be interesting what he has to say about this.

I'm also still waiting for a comment from Couch Sitting Newt.

He’ll spin it as this info really hurts those who are honestly working to fight the problem of AGW (assumption that it exists will remain).

I’ve been depressed by our advocate’s level of knowledge.

It all comes down to:

1. Harry_read_me_file: The raw data is corrupted beyond saving (paraphrase).

2. “I hope they never find out Britain now has a freedome of information act. If they do find out I would rather delete the files than give them to them.”

3. FOI request.

4. Files have been deleted.

The data is so bad that the margin of error will swamp their results. They can not win now scientifically. They will delay until Copenhagen. They will rely on MSM PR. If they start to lose, the Omamma bus won’t be able to roll over all of the bodies tossed under it.

OReilly had said that he “just wanted clean air and water” a good while back — a year or more — not seeing the costs.

Somehow, a couple months ago he called AGW “Just a theory” when looking at the cap and trade bill and the costs.

We'll see if he has shifted any more tonight.

" Climategate doesn’t prove that global warming isn’t a problem. But it does show that we should be extra skeptical of global warming orthodoxy."

Well, yea John. Always be skeptical. But I disagree that it doesn't "prove" that global warming isn't a problem. You don't don't have to prove that it isn't a problem. You must prove that it IS a problem. That has NEVER been done. And that is beside the point anyway. There is no anthropomorphic global warming. The earth cools and warms in it's own good time and in it's constantly changing rhythms. Much too complex for common man to understand. We are not gods John. We are human beings.

Newt is no dummy and hates to be “punked”. He has been “punked” on AWG.

Despises his occational political drifts and occasional blunder he is almost always well informed and careful when it comes to the facts he quotes. Newt's silence is nothing more than Newt being very careful. He is gathering all the facts. When he comes he will come out swinging before he EXPLODE all over the bastards and fakes involved with the AWG FRAUD!

And a couple months before that he was in the “settled science” mind. Said something about having information from the top guy in the field.

Lord Monckton is at it again! This series explains the AWG FRAUD very well and shows us what could be ahead of us should Copenhagen and Cap and Tax signed and passed.

Yep, that's my point.

He's been all over the place on a lot of things. His “top guys” come and go and he will change. Last thing he said about AGW was a blast at Obama admin for wanting to spend “all that money based on JUST a theory”.

He was "firm" that oil speculators had nothing to do with the rise in oil to $150 -- saying it was the oil companies, not speculators -- and then he gets bombarded with other information. then he changes his mind, and NOW claims he was right that is was speculators.

He's an idiot, especially about things he has not a clue about.

Can't resist the PC virus, can you.

Why on earth would anybody be doing "...honestly working to fight the problem of AGW," if they haven't bothered to document its existence yet?

What they have done is, to all appearances, conspired in a massive fraud to force all of us to infer that AGW exists.

I ain't buying it.

I can. I just don't believe that Bill can.

To me and my family, AGW is a stinking red commie plot.

Lord Monckton has been on with Glenn Beck. I wish he would also be on the Hannity show - and with Rush on radio.

The guy talks about FACTS - he has several times invited Al Gore to debate him, but the Macarena Man has so far declined.

I frankly was underwhelmed by the performances of BOTH John Stossel and Bill O’Reilly on the matter. Neither seemed to have any good information with which to illuminate the issue; they mostly just danced around it. John Stossel was more skeptical than O’Reilly, but even he didn’t seem to have done any homework on the science of it all.
