Jurors in the theft trial of Sheila Dixon convicted the Baltimore mayor Tuesday on a single charge of taking gift cards intended for the city's poor.
Although Dixon was acquitted of a felony theft charge, her conviction could force her from office.
The jury found Dixon not guilty of the most serious crime, felony theft. The jury decided that Dixon did not knowingly steal about $530 in Target and Best Buy gift cards purchased in December 2005 by developer Patrick Turner, who testified they were intended for "the children of Baltimore." Dixon was City Council president at the time.
The jury convicted Dixon of embezzlement for violating her fiduciary duties to the city and citizens of Baltimore by using about $530 in Target and Best Buy gift cards purchased in December 2005 by Turner. The developer testified the cards were intended for "the children of Baltimore." Dixon was City Council president at the time.

Force from office? This is just another feather in a democrat’s cap...
Well the embezzler/Democrat stole “For the children.” What else would you want!?

She’s going to burn in hell for THAT ONE for sure.
Unless of course she repents BIG TIME.
Not that I’m her judge, of course.
But according to MY Bible, The King Of The Universe is ESPECIALLY annoyed with this type of sin.
It might have well have been $530 GAZILLION worth of gift cards.
Obviously, the FELONY Count was not going to be enforced in the Verdict; to ban from public office one of the "Sistas"...
Lemme guess this one....Dixon is Black....and will claim “Civil Rights Violation” if her criminal arse is removed from office...
One of the comments says “one white face on the jury” and that’s all I know.
I just happened to see this today on a local (Silicon Valley) news site, that’s all I know about it.
The embezzlement charge is a misdemeanor. This is the best you’re going to get from a Black jury in Baltimore, praise the Lord. . Of course, she will be replaced by someone with similar ethics, but maybe a bit more savvy.
Democrat and black lol
Say “hello” to Obama’s new Commerce Czar...
Much obliged. One paragraph from another story underlines your point:
“Will [jurors] be able to forget, for example, testimony by an aide to Lipscomb, about how he cashed a company check at a liquor store, bought gift cards and was told to deliver them to Dixon’s driver, with whom he arranged to meet at night at the Waverly Giant for the handoff?”

I'm still trying to figure out how you can steal and not know it.
Yeah.
Isn’t ‘embezzlement’ by it’s very nature ‘stealing’?
I’ll bet if we look for an ACORN connection, we’ll find one.
my most reputable source at the Court House in Balto advised me there were only 2 white women on the jury , all the rest- you guess...
Yesterday it appeared as if it were going to be declared a mis-trail and my reliable source told me prior that this was the intention of the majority of the jury.
The Judge would have none of this and sent them back to deliberate yesterday and today .
