Climategate before Copenhagen (Boston Globe coverup)
Boston Globe ^ | December 1, 2009 | Beth Daley

Posted on 12/01/2009 5:24:55 AM PST by Presbyterian Reporter

I haven’t seen many stories on the U.S. wires about what is being dubbed “climategate” – the illegal hacking in of computers at University of East Anglia in England that subsequently led to public dissemination of emails and files from climate researchers there.

Climate change skeptics have seized on the emails as evidence of a conspiracy to promote manmade global warming without sufficient evidence. Scientists involved - and others - say the emails were taken out of context and there is overwhelming evidence man is contributing to climate change.

Still, the controversy reveals the enormous - and often vitriolic - divide between climate change skeptics and some climate scientists. And it began just weeks before 190 nations gather in Copenhagen to try and hammer out a worldwide treaty to lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Several readers wrote to me yesterday asking for more information the scandal and posted below are some links to it over the last ten days or so:

Don't you just love her opening line: ""I haven’t seen many stories on the U.S. wires about what is being dubbed “climategate”""

Yeah right Beth. She must not have the brain power to do a simple google search for "climategate" and find there are 13 million hits.

MSM is throwing up more roadblocks than CRU did!!!!

When it exposed liberals, it’s “illegal hacking”

If it exposes conservsatives, it’s “whistleblowing”

Lib, eco-wackjobs, et al. are really reaching in their points on if they were “hacked” or “exposed by a whistleblower”. It’s not whether or not the emails were illegal, it’s what they contained. If they were hacked, the people doing the hacking do need to be prosecuted. But what they contained is the real issue.

Liberals ain’t as smart as you might think. Course on the other hand, they’ve managed to cover up this story via the media. So I will give them credit for that.

I will say that I’d be in favor of a reduced sentence for the “hackers” (if they were), they did humanity a load of good.

As with all MSM AGW defense pieces, the comments are more informative (and funnier) than the article.

The destruction of the real data is something that was "taken out of context"?
The source code for programs that falsify data is something that was "taken out of context"?
The requests to destroy files rather than turn them over in response FOIA requests is something "taken out of context"?

I too would be lenient on the ‘hackers’.

I would give them a million dollars. Seems only fair for a first offense.

Sad, but funny. Lets see:

“If they ask for the data, I’m going to destroy it”

Now the data is ‘missing’.

Yep, definitely out of context - must be an innocent explanation.

If a tree falls in the forest and the reporter doesn't report it, did it actually happen?

“”I haven’t seen many stories on the U.S. wires about what is being dubbed “climategate”””

Is this an example of MSM “peer review”?

In other words if no other news media has broken the pledge of silence then I do not need to be the one to break the embargo.

Exactly, it's journalistic speak for, 'I'm being forced to cover this though I don't want to'.

The cat is out of the bag and there's egg ready to go on the faces who pushed Global Warming.

It's such an inconvenient truth. The MSM seems to be indulging in their own form of peer review (censorship) in order to keep this story suppressed. What other truths are they hiding from the public?

“”I haven’t seen many stories on the U.S. wires about what is being dubbed “climategate”””

I suspect the words “I haven’t seen many stories on the US wires” are also code words to other MSM journalists/editors that the Boston Globe is not going to break the climategate embargo.

If MSM continues to operate with blinders by only looking at the US wire services (which btw they financially support), then it will take the continued reporting by the blogger media.

First of all there is no evidence that the e-mails were "hacked". Most likely the person who released the e-mails had legal possession of them. Secondly even if they were "hacked" in this case they were a leak of evidence of criminal activity and fraud being perpetrated on every single human being on the planet.

If by "reduced sentence" you mean a reward of only 100 Billion dollars, then I would agree. They may have saved the working people of the world about 100 Trillion dollars so a reward of only 1/10 of one percent of the savings would be an appropriate "reduced sentence".

There is no way in Hell the person who released these e-mails should spend more than one minute in jail, unless he is there to visit one of the climate fraud conspirators.

Clueless. Probably still using carbon paper and an old Underwood manual.

...the illegal hacking in of computers at University of East Anglia in England

Assumes facts not in evidence. The evidence appears to favor a scenario where an insider published the data and emails. The most likely candidate would be someone who assembled this for an FOIA response and saw it deep-sixed.

Also, since the data and emails are on systems paid for with public money, they are "public", not "personal". There's a good chance no crime was committed here.
