Please know that I am not a Huckster apologist. I appreciate the facts that are coming out about him in regards to his clemencies and the terrible results there of. Granted, no clemency from the Huckster and this vile POS stays locked up.

An accusation of child rape isn't something I would take lightly were I to be a judge setting bail.

The scorn and contempt directed towards Huckabee is well deserved. Others in the judicial system had a crack at Clemmons, and deserve a rebuking as well.

“From the report I read, Mike Huckabee said he somewhat leans to not running but has not ruled it out.”

Though I never have wanted him as President, I don’t have as huge a level of disdain for Huckabee as some FReepers might. After this, he’s not going anywhere anyway.

You know, since you’re blaming everyone and every living thing for this monster being loose, why not blame God as well since he could have cut him down before all of this happened. /s

You have to draw the line somewhere and stop the blame game (which incidentally is a LIBERAL game).

Clemency and commuting sentences of convicted violent felons is way out of hand. Clemency for someone sentenced to death or life should not be possible except by court action with overwhelming new evidence to prove innocence.

A death sentence should never be Clemency considered and only reducible to life without parole by any governor. Other than that leave it to the courts. Juries and judges passed their harsh sentences down for good reasons. Commuting a sentence otherwise should be limited mainly to non violent crimes.

My state had a governor at one time who ran a cash for clemency business while in office. His customers got the chance to kill again and a few did just that very thing.

Bye Bye Huck. You can join Newt and others who's personal actions and choices while in office were not among the best or wise.

Huckabee’s statement

"The senseless and savage execution of police officers in Washington State has saddened the nation, and early reports indicate that a person of interest is a repeat offender who once lived in Arkansas and was wanted on outstanding warrants here and Washington State. The murder of any individual is a profound tragedy, but the murder of a police officer is the worst of all murders in that it is an assault on every citizen and the laws we live within.

Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State. He was recommended for and received a commutation of his original sentence from 1990. This commutation making him parole eligible and was paroled by the parole board once they determined he met the conditions at that time. He was arrested later for parole violation and taken back to prison to serve his full term, but prosecutors dropped the charges that would have held him. It appears that he has continued to have a string of criminal and psychotic behavior but was not kept incarcerated by either state. This is a horrible and tragic event and if found and convicted the offender should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our thoughts and prayers are and should be with the families of those honorable, brave, and heroic police officers."

If this stops Huckabee, then, good riddance. With him not in the runnung, we will have less clutter. I am not for Palin at this point, and not against her...but I am glad Huckabee is gone.

Huckabee may have signed the commutation order, but others also dropped the ball on this one.

You are correct. None of them should run for president.

Probably...since it seems that attack ad is on EVERY thread on FR now...or least EVERY thread I have opened in the past few days!

It is part of Jim Robinson's purge of Romney supporters and other RINOs. Now he won't have to bother about Huckabee.

Mark Levin spotted Huck for what he was in 2008: Huckaphony.

He attacked the conservatives opposing McCain - Thompson and Romney(granted, Romney wasn’t a consistent conservative) - and ran interference for McCain.

Huckabee was snookered by a demon.

Definitely no longer presidential material although given the poor quality we’ve had in the last 20 years or so...he still comes up towards the top...

Huckabee is a joke. There are 700 more felons Huckabee released. Wonder how many more rapes and murders he will be responsible for.

His political life - as far as conservatives go - is over I agree. He exhibits no sound judgment.

Huckabee is on Fox right now. Doesn't matter how polished he sounds right now, Huckabee SHOULD NEVER HAVE MODIFIED THE SENTENCE.
