Dobbs Says He Now Backs Amnesty
Wednesday, November 25, 2009
By: Dan Weil
In a little-noticed interview last week, Lou Dobbs announced that he now supports amnesty for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States
Since he left his job as a CNN commentator two weeks ago, Dobbs has been bandied about as a Senate candidate in New Jersey. And now he is indicating that he might run for president.
But Dobbs became famous for his strong views on illegal immigration and foreign trade. Now that hes a would-be politician, those views appear to be softening. Dobbs told Spanish-language network Telemundo he now supports a plan to legalize millions of undocumented workers, a stance he long lambasted as an unfair "amnesty."

Well, there goes the remainder of his street cred with the conservative end of the spectrum...
But wasn’t this McCain’s position too during the campaign?
Shoot bullets at me and I shoot back.
F you Lou. Mr. Sellout, thats you.
I am no longer certain how low “pond scum” is? Flamingos eat it so it can’t be all bad. ;-]
I never saw him as anything more than a potential representative or maybe a longshot for senator.
Honestly I think he’s doing something here with this hard left turn. He may realize that running as a strong border control advocate will drain votes from a republican but adopting an open border stance will hurt a democrat more.
Guess I just don’t buy the sudden hard left turn.
Hata la vista
Dobbs is Done.
Not if he runs as amnesty Luisito de los Dobbs.
The only guy he is going to hurt when he runs as an amnesty nut is 0bozo.
Lou.... hope you enjoy your retirement.
I watched that interview (Spanish is one of the languages I am Fluent in) and he stuck to the position he always has. That no illegal gets Amnesty by staying here. His position has always been that if you voluntarily go home and enter legally having been here illegally before will not be held against you.
You have a point.
I was going to join in denouncing him for trading his one issue so easily but I do have some sympathy that unlike most here in the thread if not all...he had an actual bullet fired at his family and home over the issue. Real easy to dismiss it but if you’re not accustomed to this type of violence in your personal life it would shake you.
I still don’t like the change. Considering it’s the only issue he owns that would make his election attractive, I doubt this helps his candidacy.
Dobbs running for anything is a very bad idea. He needs to stick to what he does best. Untethered from CNN, he could have used his talent to go after BHO and his adm with both barrels-—now he is in danger of losing his credibility.
The hell with Lou. My guess is that bullet fired at his house also included threats to harm him and or his family.
He MIGHT have cost Palin some votes before this debacle, but now he will only hurt Romney, Hatch, Grassley, and others of their ilk.
The reason why I said why his running will cost Sarah Palin and others votes is because I saw some poll a few days ago where I believe he would take 14 percent of the vote
Plese tell me that it is not so!
Uh, once again....22 million.
The rule is “we elect our guys and they go to Washington and they ain’t our guys anymore.” Dobbs just got the sequence mixed up a little.
