Climate change: this is the worst scientific scandal of our generation
Telegraph UK ^ | 28 Nov 2009 | Christopher Booker

Posted on 11/28/2009 10:50:23 AM PST by ricks_place

Our hopelessly compromised scientific establishment cannot be allowed to get away with a whitewash regarding statistics for global warming, says Christopher Booker

A week after my colleague James Delingpole, on his Telegraph blog, coined the term "Climategate" to describe the scandal revealed by the leaked emails from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit, Google was showing that the word now appears across the internet more than nine million times. But in all these acres of electronic coverage, one hugely relevant point about these thousands of documents has largely been missed.

The reason why even the Guardian's George Monbiot has expressed total shock and dismay at the picture revealed by the documents is that their authors are not just any old bunch of academics. Their importance cannot be overestimated, What we are looking at here is the small group of scientists who have for years been more influential in driving the worldwide alarm over global warming than any others, not least through the role they play at the heart of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Professor Philip Jones, the CRU's director, is in charge of the two key sets of data used by the IPCC to draw up its reports...

Dr Jones is also a key part of the closely knit group of American and British scientists responsible for promoting that picture of world temperatures conveyed by Michael Mann's "hockey stick" graph which 10 years ago turned climate history on its head...

Given star billing by the IPCC, not least for the way it appeared to eliminate the long-accepted Mediaeval Warm Period when temperatures were higher they are today...

Climategate is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Copenhagen, may just work against this bunch of government leaders pushing it, it will turn into a political joke

Already one respected US climate scientist, Dr Eduardo Zorita, has called for Dr. Mann and Dr. Jones to be barred from any further participation in the IPCC. Even our own George Monbiot, horrified at finding how he has been betrayed by the supposed experts he has been revering and citing for so long, has called for Dr. Jones to step down as head of the CRU.

Story is gaining traction in the scientific community.

Google “Harvard and MIT debunk global warming” The whole page is chock full of proof.

Did and it's case closed. No argument. Done deal. Are they going to cancel Copenhagen? Plus, no more "Grants" for the global warming, uh, er, climategate myth. What a waste of money. .

I think that the banning DDT at the request of environmental groups and environmentalism in general is a bigger scientific fraud in the effects on billions of people.

Another liberal genocide. Millions of kids died with the ban. . .

It appears to me that a significant portion of adults in the world never matured past the age of 10.When we say Marxism killed over 100 million people, that does not include the millions killed due to the DDT ban, and other such madness.

"Climategate" must have popped into 1,000,000 brains and was tapped out on 1,000,000 keyboards simultaneously.

Myself, I prefer Mark Steyn's schadenfreudelicious "Climaquiddick".

This video is an excellent overview of this scandal, but it’s done by a guy named Alex Jones. I’m not familiar with him. He may be a 9/11 truther, so I recommend it with some reservations about the author. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPQIm9yXA1I

One of the first replies posted is hilarious:

Despite their contentions that it was about the Earth, it was really about money.....follow the money.

I’m waiting patiently for John Coleman’s Weather Channel (including their website) to stop pushing the hysteria. Any second now...

I don't think Coleman is involved at the Weather Channel anymore. But he was definitely one of the earliest outspoken skeptics. He was prompted to speak up after climate-slut Heidi Cullen (also no longer with TWC) went insane and started calling for "deniers" to be stripped of their weatherman credentials.

The left just can’t win lately can they?

Remember when Palin was scoffed at for stating she wasn’t sure if warming was caused by natural cycles or by man?

It was supposed to be a sign of her ditziness and obvious cluelessness right?

LOL!

this is the worst scientific scandal of our generation

The AIDS hoax was worse. They spent a decade killing people with AZT before it was quietly realized that it was all a PC / junk science panic.
