WINDERMERE, Fla. -- Golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured when he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree outside of his Isleworth home early on Friday morning, officials said.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods was seriously injured and taken to Health Central Hospital. The Orange County Fire Department confirmed that a patient was taken to Health Central, but would not confirm that the patient was Woods.
Woods was driving a 2009 black Escalade, FHP said. He hit a fire hydrant outside of his home and a tree outside his neighbor's home.
FHP said the crash is still under investigation.
Update: Authorities: Tiger Woods hurt in Fla. car crash
Compare and contrast Phil with teh fans and Tiger. Phil spends endless hours signing autographs with kids, etc etc.
Speaking of steroids - odd about the knee surgery and time away from the PGA tour occurred a week before the PGA started mandatory testing for steroids.
Fuzzy is a jokester who often times says stupid things. What he said about Tiger was very stupid and he paid a big price for it.
Tiger had his temper tantrums when he missed the cut at The Open in the UK. I think he was going to lose it in Shanghai where Phil won but he restrained himself.
He hit the tree pretty hard and the truck stopped against the tree. The pictures on the web were in the dark and the truck is black but it looks like it crumpled back to the front wheel base.
Oh the pictures also show the fire hydrant is gone now. not sure if the fire department came out and removed it or if he sheared it right off.
This guy took a $5 an hour job at a country club because it got him access to the golf course (one of the pro tour masters events is held there and the annual membership fee is something like $20,000.) A few minutes into every conversation I had with him, he'd start talking about a shot he'd made, and follow up with a description of the entire round, stroke by stroke. If this guy thought it took too much to be a pro, I can't imagine anyone being obsessed enough to do it.
Woods started playing golf when he was about two. He may be tired of it. He may be getting sick of the effort necessary to stay on top.
I think what you said about his wife is true, also. In real terms, unless he's been very stupid with his money, he should be able to do anything he wants for the rest of his life. Maybe he should consider taking some time off and spending a little time with the family.
Re: “Fuzzy has a long term reputation of being a total jerk - why is there any question about that?”

You may think Zoeller is a jerk but I am related to people who know him and/or have golfed with him. He is a kidder, a jokester, and means no harm. He apologized to Woods. Big deal.
I have seen Zoeller’s behaviors on the tour and he is far more pleasant ALL the time, both on the regular tour before turning 50 or now on Champions’ tour.
Tiger is obnoxious nearly all the time unless he is far ahead score-wise. His ‘fans’ aren’t much better, though in the past couple of years MANY of them have simply dropped away — he is not the idol he once was. He was even booed at a Stanford football game recently after being introduced to the crowd.
Too many people have witnessed his nastiness now after all these years and we say enough! He will never replace the likes of Hogan, Palmer, Nicklaus, etc. His father raised him for this life — from age 2 onward he has been on a golf course constantly. Most golfers aren’t steered into the sport, rather figure out after a few years that they have an interest and then pursue it.
If I never see Tiger Woods on TV or at a tourney here in CA again it will be fine with me.
Steroid use increases the likelihood of knee ligament injuries like Woods has repeatedly had.

His is especially unusual in that he is not a contact sport athlete.
That’s what I was thinking, who gets a knee injury playing golf? There’s a lot of old guys playing golf, so it can’t be that hard on your knees. If golf is hard on the knees, I would expect the bigger guys like John Daly and Colin Montogmery to have real problems.
Tiger can you say REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH?
and one can read the police report, too

The muscles get to strong for the skeletal support system.....happened to Bo Jackson’s hip. I will repeat to the doubters.....Woods is a serious user.
Good to hear that. I don't own a car that the doors automatically lock so was not aware of the safety feature that unlocks them.
You don't even know what really transpired. Fuzzy is too classy to drag a good friend, Tiger, through the mud that his dad created. Those who know Fuzzy know what happened and who said what.
Thanks for selectively editing my message where I said Fuzzy is a good guy. You have a future at CBS 60 minutes or in the Obama Administrations Propaganda Ministry.
Also don’t tell me about Fuzzy. He used to play at an exec course for practice before he was even known and it is where I learned to play golf.
Tiger is going to have to pay big time for this, one way or the other.

Yeah, fire hydrant, tree, hospital, SUV repairs, lawyer, PR guy... hoo-boy!
It's a rough life being a celebrity... :-)
I’ve not followed this story at all. But, how does one seriously injure themselves pulling out of their driveway, even if it’s a long one?
The knee surgery and leaving the PGA tour occurred a week before the PGA started madatory drug testing for steroids. The PGA gives him so many free passes. I do not recall an other golfers with knee issues. Back and sometimes the shoulders.
