So declares Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe, taking a few minutes away from a Thanksgiving retreat with his family. "Ninety-five percent of the nails were in the coffin prior to this week. Now they are all in."
If any politician might be qualified to offer last rites, it would be Mr. Inhofe. The top Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee has spent the past decade in the thick of Washington's climate fight. He's seen the back of three cap-and-trade bills, rode herd on an overweening Environmental Protection Agency, and steadfastly insisted that global researchers were "cooking" the science behind man-made global warming.
This week he's looking prescient. The more than 3,000 emails and documents from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit (CRU) that have found their way to the Internet have blown the lid off the "science" of manmade global warming. CRU is a nerve center for many of those researchers who have authored the United Nations' global warming reports and fueled the political movement to regulate carbon.
Their correspondence show a claque of scientists massaging data to make it fit their theories, squelching scientists who disagreed, punishing academic journals that didn't toe the apocalyptic line, and hiding their work from public view. "It's no use pretending that this isn't a major blow," glumly wrote George Monbiot, a U.K. writer who has been among the fiercest warming alarmists. The documents "could scarcely be more damaging." And that's from a believer.

Sen Inhofe has been fighting this for a long time. I can remember in 2004 he was calling global warming junk science and he never backed off. That is what it takes to win — keep on fighting.
Last election Soros sent money and consultants to Andrew Rice, Jim’s opponent intent on beating him and it failed miserably with Oklahomans sending Senator Inhofe back to the Senate in large numbers and 66% of Oklahomans voting for McCain. We had some Democrat counties that only 12% voted for Obama and not one county went for Obama. Yet Soros and ACORN thought they could turn Oklahoma Blue in the 2008 election. How dumb was that?
Gore would support anything that made him millions and millions but now I will be glad to call Gore a fraud that only took up the Global Warming mantra to make money or he wouldn’t have been flying the world in his private plane. Not sure Gore has an honest bone left in his body.

Yeah, the non-Fox networks and cable “news” channels might even be forced to start running a story or two about this real soon. Naturally, everyone that stays informed about world events that are actually happening knows about all of this already, but those who obtain their information only from CBSNBCABCMSNBCCNN may finally be getting a glimmer of information about it soon, though it will be hilarious to hear the lame spin the alphabet channels will put on the whole thing. Vague allusions to timing, acting like the whole thing is just now breaking, maybe trying to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the emails despite acknowledgment by the principals, try to minimize their impact, continue to try to paint the anti-warmers as loons, etc.
I think the most hilarious aspect of this whole issue is that libs and independents can only find out about what’s going on now by tuning in to Fox, reading the WSJ, and coming to web sites like FR. I suspect that many of them will enjoy our news outlets and continue to tune in.
You know that the old guard media is totally on its way out when their alternate reality is so useless that even their own natural constituency has to tune in to their conservative competitors to get the actual news.
It might end up dead in Congress but will be implemented through the EPA which has regulatory power thanks to the SCOTUS.

I tend to agree, but they are sowing the winds of their own utter destruction. The squeegee guy in chief has actually bumbled the whole charade, and now this. This is icing on the cake.
Australia gave us a Thanksgiving present. Five of their “frontbenchers” (Senators?) resigned on 11/26 to protest the liberal government’s plan to implement a cap and tax scheme. It now appears that the govt might fall and be replaced. Gotta love those Aussies.

I guarantee that these jerks are going to find a method to salvage there plans from the wreckage of CRU. They will do so through implementation of administrative and regulatory law... More EPA fascism... Sustainable development, wildlands projects, international biospheres, buffer zones, wildlife corridors, etc. They will find a way to steal our property by hook or by crook. Research the UN’s ‘Agenda 21’ That is their working blueprint for global socialism and the culling of the “useless eaters”. Besides, once they finish collapsing our dollar and sinking our economy... we’re just as dead, Cap and Trade or not.
