November 26, 2009 : Democrat Senator from North Dakota, Kent Conrad, while defending the Obama Administration's decision to try al Qaeda terrorists in civilian courts, said:Senator Conrad's insulting defense of trying KSM in New York
"If people don't believe in our system, maybe they ought to go somewhere else."
Really Senator Conrad? Would you like to retract that statement?
I am a Gold-Star Father, meaning my son Sergeant Eddie Jeffers was killed in Iraq. I am opposed to terrorists being tried in civilian courts. Did I mention that I am a 22 year Army veteran? Is it okay with you if invoke my free speech rights?
How about Debra Burlingame? Her brother, Charles "Chic" Burlingame III, was piloting the plane that terrorists slammed into the Pentagon. Ms. Burlingame is opposed to terrorists being tried in civilian courts. Does she need to go somewhere else?
Time and space does not allow listing the names of family members who lost loved ones on 9/11 and those who subsequently joined the military to find this terrorist scourge, some giving "the last full measure." Do all of these patriotic Americans need to go somewhere else?
Perhaps it is Senator Conrad who needs to go somewhere else? I'm not asking North Dakotans to send Senator Conrad out of the country, just back to Bismarck.
As for me, I'm staying.

Yes. We need Hoeven to run. He’s the only one who can definitively take Dorgan out without much trouble.
Take out Dorgan and Pomeroy next year and Conrad will be an easier target in ‘12. He wouldn’t have his job without Dorgan. It’s time for a revolution in North Dakota.
Does N. Dakota have recall provisions for Senators?
This is truly low. The good people of ND need to wake up and realize what kind of man they have representing them, and take action at the next election.

My best friends are all from Bismarck and they love this guy. I think there is a big union influence in Bismarck.
There is no provision in the U.S. Constitution that allows for a recall of federally elected officials. They could only be expelled by the body in which they serve. Other than that, you have to wait until the next election.
It would violate the U.S Constitution for states to have recall provisions for U.S. Senators or Representatives (recall provisions for state officers are fine unless the state constitution prohibits them). We have to wait until 2012 to send Conrad packing, but we can get rid of his bestest buddies Senator Dorgan and Congressman Pomeroy in 2010.
