Pataki would actually be behind 45-42 if he ran. It's pretty clear to me who should run, and that's Rudy. I'm willing to look past the issues like abortion where he is less than conservative if it means a sure win over Gillibrand. I'm pretty sure Pataki isn't so conservative either, so really there's not much of a choice.
Don't they have to announce pretty soon whether they are running? In Texas the deadline to get on the primary ballot is January 4th.
NY doesn’t hold its primaries till September, tho there’s an effort to move them up, but only to August.
“I would support Rudy for Senate only if he promised to STAY THERE and go no farther.”
That won’t happen.
NY needs primaries so we get a conservative running against the liberal, not another liberal.
I think the time is ripe for conservatives winning elections even in NYS.
This is an improvement. Will any conservatives join the fray?
Bottom line. Rudy would be a definite gain. The purists around here need to recall the dictum of Ronaldus Maximus that if someone votes with you most of the time, he is your ally not your enemy.
