Doug Hoffman's will not press for recount in NY 23
Doug Hoffman for Congress ^ | 11/24/2009 | Doug Hoffman

Posted on 11/24/2009 6:10:11 PM PST by SeattleBruce

Dear Friends,

Today, Tuesday, November 24, 2009, it is with a heavy heart that we declare this election over. We will formally end this election and not ask for a recount. This was a difficult choice to make because so many people have put their faith, hope and aspirations into our campaign.

Yes, there seem to have been many vote counting problems, missed vote counts and, as was recently reported by the Gouvernour Times, software problems in the computerized voting machines. Despite these incidents, I do not believe the voters of NY-23, or New Yorkers in general, would be well-served by a disruptive and costly recount that would most likely not change the election outcome.

I know many are disappointed and even angry. To those I say now is not the time to look back, but to focus on the future and ensure that next year we win back this district decidedly. Know this decision was not an easy one. I did not want to let down those who worked so hard, donated so much and shared their enthusiasm for retaking our country with common-sense conservative values.

What was the final count?

Hoffman should push for a recount, just to be annoying.

Hoffman needs more seasoning. What a shame.

What’s he trying to be nice for? What kind of an era does he think we live in - the 50s? Perhaps, in a way, he does. But heck, even my Mom, is not very nice about politics these days. We need to recognize that we’re in for the fight of our national lives. We’re fighting for our nation’s SOUL.

This is why the Democrats will always beat us. They fight to win, while we walk away because we don’t want to have our clothes torn.

It takes money and the typical 21st century GOP isn’t about to help a filthy conservative win.

The ultimate fault lies with the Republicans who refuse to make corrections to the fraudulent voting system when they had the Congress and White House. I don’t know about you, but when I see someone claiming to be honest refusing to address massive cheating after they rise to power to do something about it, I put that down to being of the same ilk, not wanting to end something they intend to take advantage of at some future opportunity. By enabling, the pubbies are just as scummy.

Ya’ know, the votes belong to the voters, not the candidate. The votes should be counted regardless of how gracious a candidate wants to be.

Doug Hoffman will re-load for 2010.

The GOP better investigate and prosecute the “irregularities” in the voting process for 2010.

(On that second point: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! WHO AM I KIDDING! THE BUSH/DELAY/LOTT - ERA GOP WON’T DO A DAMN THING!!!!!!)

Do you Eeyores realize that this seat is up again next year? Owens has already broken his promise not to support Obamacare, and Hoffman is going to run as a Republican.

I guess this announcement is the result of the supposed deadline by Hoffman.

Hoffman hasn't announced challenge

DECISION DELAYED: Conservative candidate for 23rd District promises he will reveal his plans today
By JUDE SEYMOUR
TIMES STAFF WRITER
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2009

Conservative Party candidate Douglas L. Hoffman passed his self-appointed deadline Monday without declaring whether he'd challenge results in the 23rd Congressional District race.

Robert H. Ryan, Mr. Hoffman's spokesman, said the candidate would announce his decision today. He would not say what Mr. Hoffman's intentions were.

Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, leads the race by 3,397 votes, with 628 absentee ballots left to be counted, according to unofficial results. Mr. Owens led, according to unofficial election night results, by 5,335 votes, but a recheck of the machine vote in the 11-county district put the gap at 2,864 votes. The Democrat has added 533 votes during counting of absentee, emergency and affidavit ballots, which started Nov. 17.

Mr. Owens now has 72,711 total votes, or 48.3 percent, with Mr. Hoffman at 69,314 votes, or 46 percent. Republican Dierdre K. Scozzafava, who suspended her campaign three days before Election Day, has 8,619 votes, or 5.7 percent.

County elections boards must send results to the state elections board by Friday. The state board will certify the results at its Dec. 15 meeting.

Doug Hoffman is right... let it go and tank up resources for 2010.
Hoffman team should now focus guns blazing with plenty of ammunition in the campaign to take out that fraud Owens next year.

I’ve learned from watching. I’m sure word has come down that he isn’t going to get any help from the GOP. He’s out of the spotlight and the GOP is free to brush him aside.

Sure they might make noises about supporting him in the future but when it comes down to it he’ll be challenged by a well funded hand picked NRCC lapdog.

Notice what happened in WA State in 2004 and MN in 2008? How can we prevent such? Not by playing nice all the time. I think that’s what’s causing people’s anger, not the exact specifics of this race - which, as you point out, are important.

There’s some pretty stinky stuff that happened in NY 23 and in those aforementioned races. How do we DEAL with that longer term?
