White House Argula On the Menu (Zero's First State Dinner)
Weekly Standard ^ | November 24, 2009 | Mary Katherine Ham

Posted on 11/24/2009 12:57:59 PM PST by C19fan

I bring you the State Dinner menu. First item:

Potato and Eggplant Salad White House Arugula with onion seed vinaigrette 2008 sauvignon blanc, Modus Oprendi, Napa Valley, California

Perhaps the price at Whole Foods is no longer an issue because they're growing it in the garden?

“Anybody gone into Whole Foods lately and see what they charge for arugula?” the senator said. “I mean, they’re charging a lot of money for this stuff.”

Yes, lentils are a source of protein, too. I should have noticed that, I like lentils.

The site has a picture of the dessert plate. Unappetizing - no color or texture variation. And, just curious, why is his first state dinner for a vegetarian?

That’s a pretty good snack. Now where’s the fried chicken and BBQ brisket?

I believe PM Singh is a vegetarian but will eat fish.

I didn't know either so I had to look it up. Is there no meat in that dinner?

Arugula (Eruca vesicaria sativa) is a leafy green herb of the mustard family. Known also as rocket, Italian cress, roquette, and rucola, arugula has elongated dark green leaves that are lobed like the leaves of an oak. In the ground, the plant resembles a loose lettuce with long, slender leaves. Arugula is related to both the radish and watercress, and the flavor of the leaves is similarly hot and peppery.

The menu actually sounds tasty, but I’d probably be ready for some barbecue ribs a few hours later.

Me, too. This is a silly thread, but it’s nice to see how the other half lives. Pretty tables. I love pretty tables.

The entire menu:

What? No beef for the leader of India? I expected Zero to serve him beef.

Italians eat a lot of it.... Oh, yeah!! That’s what makes their breath stink.

No beef for the leader of India?... He could’a suckered him (like he does with this country) by telling him it was CORNED beef.

I’m surprised they are not serving on paper plates. The picture of the place settings hardly looks to be taken from the inside of a tent.

Maybe I'd have added the option of lobster fra diavolo or chicken cordon bleu (with thigh meat, if you please, whenever I see chicken breast on a menu I think about offering the chef an irrigation line), but I'm not going to complain about a president who serves up a menu that succulent even if he is a menace to what's left of the Republic otherwise.

When you get through pissing your pants over how great Bozo is, you should realize that neither he nor his wife made the menu, the chef is in charge of that. They merely tell them what TYPE of guests they are having and the Chef takes it from there.

I don't know where you got the idea that I was pissing in my pants over His Excellency (the final thirteen words of my original comment should have been obvious), unless the fact that I said something nice about him or something he's doing---maybe the only nice thing I've ever said about him or something he does---equals a sycophancy or a sympatico that simply doesn't exist.

But if His Excellency Al-Hashish Field Marshmallow Dr. Barack Obama Dada, COD, RIP, LSMFT, Would-Be Life President of the Republic Formerly Known as the United States, and Chairman of the Organisation of Halfrican Unity, and/or his oatmeal-for-brains wife, really would let the White House chef have that much autonomy over what gets served at the White House, then he's a bigger ass than even I discredit him with being and she's equal or worse.
