From the article:

(Sources)"...told The Kansas City Star that they believed Moore, who won his last race 56 to 40 percent over Jordan, was in trouble because of his support for many of President Barack Obama’s initiatives, including the stimulus package and health care reform."

This is good news. Moore is a Pelosi lap dog who somehow managed to sell himself as a blue dog. Wonder why he decided not to seek re-election.

Not to mention his vote in support of cap 'n tax.

I found Moore’s demeanor very disturbing in the past year.

His reaction to his constituency had a certain “it doesn’t really matter” air to it.

Now this could be because he knew all along he wasn’t running again, or it could be something worse, like he has information about a radical TEOTWAKI change coming up.

I am ALWAYS suspicious of any Democrat that possibly switches ... 2 things. 1.) They will be just another stinking RINO or 2.) They are nothing but a career politician doing what the only job a career politician does well ... get reelected.

Pardon my cynicism .. but, it is based in reality.

Yep we can thank Newt and the RNC leadership for losing NY 23.
We have lost now two NY races in fairly conservative NY districts because of mismanagement by the “leadership”.

I bet Newt is helping Scozzafava relocate so the RNC can be assured they get a pickup...

Now I read farther that he is retiring .. makes my comment number 2 invalid. (as it pertains to him anyway)

Newt, Dede and the corrupt RINO GOP goons in NY-23 really helped the Democrats. VA and NJ scared the Dems but Newt bailed them out. It would have been one more vote against in the House and could have caused some more defections.

Dede quitting and supporting the Dem was disgusting. Hannity and any other talk show host should tell fat newt to take a hike. The NY-23 loss caused major damage.

"U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore, a Democrat who confounded the GOP by winning six consecutive elections in a heavily Republican district..."

How "heavily Republican" can that district be if they continued to elect and re-elect ths guy???

Is there such a thing as a "RINO District?"
Because this sure sounds like one.

. . . and experience. Here in Georgia, we have Saxby Chambliss and Sonny Perdue to show for it.

There are a couple of counties in the third dist that are made up of a LOT of hispanics, who vote democrat/lib anyway. And the core county, where all the money is, is infested with “liberal republicans”.

Moore made a great show of being “pro-education”, and that won a lot of folks over to him.

This is a definite R pickup. This is a conservative district, but Moore has managed to win there repeatedly. I’d rate the chances of the GOP picking up this seat at 80%.

There is another story here - that is the fact that moderate Dems in marginal/conservative districts are retiring. They’re seeing the writing on the wall in 2010.
