What's the hottest ticket in the nation's capital? An engraved invitation to Tuesday's White House state dinner, the first hosted by President Obama.
He and the first lady will honor India's prime minister. But in a departure from the traditional venue -- the elegant State Dining Room -- the Obamas will gather with a few hundred VIPs in a huge, heated tent on the South Lawn.
The guest list for the black-tie gala remains a closely guarded secret. Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, will certainly be there. Several notables are good bets, such as Oprah Winfrey and Chicago hotel billionaire Penny Pritzker, as are top Obama aides David Axelrod, Valerie Jarrett and Rahm Emanuel.
Dee Dee Myers, who served as President Clinton's press secretary, said the lobbying by people seeking an invite has probably been relentless.
"The first [state dinner] is always the most dramatic," Myers said. "First impressions are important. That's your A list, that's your top game right there. By the time you get to the eighth state dinner, it'll be a lot less important."
The gargantuan tent affords a bigger crowd than could fit in the State Dining Room, which holds 140.

We should get some homeless to panhandle outside the WH in honor of the event. Maybe if we contacted ACORN? (/s)
another three ring circus event.
el diablo?
The Big Top?
Will Pee wee’d up Herman be there?
Brilliant. I am so lifting that - with full credit of course.
Barach Antoinette
Sure would like to see an F3 tornado sweep through this circus tent!
(Not likely in DC...not likely in November.)
Where are all those anti-wat hippies who stayed outside the WH banging drums? A tent?
What, oh what faux pas will Barry commit this time?
Black panthers, Muslim extremists, communist sympathizers?
But, I wonder how that's going to go over in our dear friend's Pakistani neighborhoods, since our friends in the Afgan fight - the necessary war - have some fence mending to do with their avowed Indian enemy.
But who cares! Zer0 will sort out all the animosity with a few phrases off of his teleprompter!
All will be well! Hope, and Change you can believe in
With this poseur in the White House, I wouldn’t go there to use the toilet if I had explosive diarrhea.
Others on the list:
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton but not former President Bill Clinton
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner
Energy Secretary Stephen Chu.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal
You can't make this crap up! What pains in the asses for the WH servants! I will bet they make it more expensive in their muslim tents somehow. I wonder if Farrakhan, Ayers,Wright, and a few terrorists are on the guest list of the marxist traitor false messiah and his fat arsed marxist wife?
A “tent” dinner in NOVEMBER? In DC? How stupid are these people? Don’t worry...that’s a rhetorical question.
I can’t wait to see what food is served. The Obamasses will probably order out from Subway and it will be BYOB, with soft drinks (sugar free of course) being complimentary. Each guest will get a “goodie bag” with DVDs of all of Obama’s speeches and a copy of ‘The Audacity of a Dope”. Some of the very special guests will get a photo opportunity with the teleprompter. I hope there is a freak wind shear over that tent.
Some guests have decided to regret the invitations. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will be at home for Thanksgiving break. Lockheed Martin Corp. CEO Bob Stevens received an invitation, but decided to decline.
Equally of interest: who didnt make the cut? Admiral Michael Mullen, the current chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was not invited, even though the White House has traditionally invited the joint chiefs. Two key California Democrats werent invited: Sen. Dianne Feinstein, one of Obamas biggest superdelegates during his campaign, and Sen. Barbara Boxer, who has been key in shepherding Obamas climate initiatives in the Senate. Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.), Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) and House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) were also not invited.
How much is this costing the taxpayers?! A giant heated tent when there is an already heated State Dining Room? What a horrendous waste of our money!!!
I wonder if Ozero borrowed the tent from his good buddy Gaddafi?
