THOMSON, Ill., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Thousands of jobs would be created in Illinois if the U.S. government purchases a nearly empty prison there to house terror detainees, a study indicates.
The study, performed by the Obama White House Council of Economic Advisers and obtained by The Chicago Sun-Times, asserted that 2,290 to 2,960 jobs would be created in and around Thomson, Ill., in the first year after its conversion to house some of the prisoners now held at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention facility, the newspaper reported Sunday.
Local residents in the Illinois-Iowa border town would be "good candidates" to fill 1,240 to 1,410 of those jobs, the report indicated.

it doesn’t matter how many people oppose the transfer, the demons passed maobamacare when most of their constituants opposed it.
How many of them will be jobs for criminal defense attorneys, civil rights attorneys, immigration attorneys, etc.?
Get ready for Thomson real estate to increase in value as muzzies start buying it up to be near their brothers in the prison.
Terrorism (or whatever they call it now) as a jobs program.
Trust me, they will not be hiring the town folks...............
And how will the citizens of Thomson feel after the first store or cafe is blown up by a suicide bomber or there is a mass shooting by an Islamic terrorist?
For how many prisoners, 10! The spirit of Marie Antoinette Lives! Let them eat cake! Take our crumbs! There are millions out of work and they have the arrogance to tell the American people take what crumbs come to you!
All those first responders in Chicago.
Gitmo North
Random thoughts:
1) Er, wouldn’t these jobs be mostly taxpayer funded government jobs (i.e. not creating private sector wealth)?
2) I truly never thought I’d see the day when a President of the United States would pitch the transfer of a mass murdering terrorist as an economic boon.
3) Aren’t liberals supposed to be all uptight about the prison-industrial complex anyway?
4) Just an aside. IIRC, Plugs Biden once advocated solving the overcrowding problem in many prisons by dismantling the federal penitentiary system. His plan was to convert them into ‘regional zones’ where prisoners from nearby overcrowded state prisons would be housed in (relatively) undercrowded Federal prisons.
Yes and they will be reliable Dem voters.
Beefing up the Baraqqi coalition.
Nuclear decontamination workers to clean up after a dirty bomb?
“100 to 1 guard to prisoner? Hell, put them all in a hole and give one guy a key to toss food in once a day.”
Pork and bacon only.
How about an Air Force One shuttle, with some low flyovers of Lower Manhattan?
Yes, and what happened to Ming at the end?
Just sayin.
There is a silver lining to this..if Obama succeeds in becoming dictator, the SEIU guards will likely be as swift as the Nazis and shoot those terrorist fools at dawn and not look back! No graves. Just dump them in the ocean and that will be that.
Unfortunately on the other hand..he will probably try and shoot the rest of us as well. I’ll be ready for them.
A return of the bubonic plague would mean more jobs for physicians.
Not a chance!
200+ inmates and almost 3000 jobs? Unrealistic, even by gummint standards.
More Government Jobs means Less Gross Domestic Product unless we can market B.S.
