'Iran will strike Tel Aviv if attacked'

An aide to Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that if the Islamic republic is attacked, it will retaliate against the Israeli metropolis of Tel Aviv, official media reported on Sunday.

"If the enemy attacks Iran, our missiles will strike Tel Aviv," the official IRNA news agency quoted Khamenei's representative in the elite Revolutionary Guards, Mojhtaba Zolnoor, as saying late on Saturday.

His comments came as Iranian air defence forces were set to carry out five days of manoeuvres involving simulated attacks on the country's nuclear facilities.

Just like WWII did not end in 1945... it really only ended in 1989 when the Berlin Wall came down... the extermination (or desire to exterminate) and vilification of Jews also did not end in 1945... it is still going on and Israel is the only nation that can or will stop it.

After they nuke Iran, they should send some boys from Mossad to campuses where Jew hatred is undergoing a renaissance and pay a few visits to some outspoken hate-spewing professors.

No tonnage.

You’re making my point for me. I don’t deny that the Israelis can land some ordance on Iran, they cannot neutralize Iran, much less Iran and her proxies, a la the Six Day War, any time soon. Just isn’t gonna happen.

It would be foolish for Iran to initiate a fight with Israel today, but not inconceivable.

Wow, I'm sure the IDF had no idea that might be Iran's response to an attack on their nuclear installations. </sarc>

I would very surprised if much time and thought haven't gone into planning to render Iran to make any counter attack once the war begins.

The troubles in the ME are still a continuation of the Communists effort to control the world. After WWII the West controlled the ME and supported the UN's creation of Israel in 1949. (The UN was created in 1947) The USSR immediately started stirring up trouble there as well as elsewhere.

The struggle there is still a war by proxy by the Russian Communists as was the Korean war, the Vietnam war, and other struggles on the other side of the world.. They usually manage to get us involved in their backyard and across the world from us.

At the same time they have been making progress in this country since before WWII. In fact, Thomas Fleming, in his book The new Dealers War: the war within WWII, makes a strong argument that FDR fought WWII to save the USSR and Josef Stalin from the Germans and the Japanese. It is no doubt the USSR was much stronger and had expanded broadly as a result.

After FDR we had Truman, Kennedy/LBJ, Carter, Clinton and now Obama, a known Communist sympathizer if not actually one himself. All were/are Democrats! Each step along the way they pushed the ball further toward the goal of Communism. The Communists have almost completed their goal of world domination

Once they control the U.S. and our military they will bring the Muslims to heel and Israel will either succumb to Communist control or be conquered and forced to.

Our first battle is to save the USA right here at home.

Iran wants Israel to put off their attack until Iran has "the bomb" - at which point they'll destroy Israel. Lucky for us the Israelis aren't as stupid as democrats in this country...they'll catch this blatant Iranian lie...

Iran will not be able to get a to the airport if “attacked” by the Israeli Air Force.... they’re not going to go in half-a##ed.

Don’t think Iran will be “able” to strike Tel Aviv if attacked...

“Saddam Hussein tried the same thing, to draw other Islamic countries into the war in Iraq. It didn’t work because Israel trusted us and exercised restraint.”

I was supposed to be in Israel at the time, but the State Department cancelled my trip right out from under me! LOL.

Anyway, at the time, the restraint that Israel showed while being bombed by more than a few SCUD missiles in a major population center was beyond admirable, It was miraculous, and showed profound respect for President Bush 41.

I doubt if the current holder of the office elicits the same response.

“If we had a President who loved our country and freedom (we don’t), this article’s headline would be followed by this hypothetical quote:

America will strike Iran if Iran attacks Tel Aviv ...”

The irony is that most likely 0 will get dragged, kicking and screaming, into the fray. Iran has already said it will consider any attack by Israel as also an attack by the US. If they keep that promise, not only will commercial shipping get hit in the Persian Gulf, but very likely some of our naval vessels.

I hope 0 only goes after Iran, and doesn’t also bomb Israel. (I think I’m kidding...)

“Look @ the various block upgrades to the F-16”

That;s my understanding as well... Israel is more capable than we are in that regard.

"I feel certain that if Israel strikes Iran, the Iranians will no longer have the capability to srike back.'

Not so. It will be all Israel can do to slow down the nuke endeavor.

Iran will have 100's of mid-range missiles, many capable of Chem and Bio warheads, ready to launch toward Israel. Additionally, they have hundred of missiles ready for an attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz. More dozen, if not hundreds ready to launch at refineries and loading points all along the Gulf to shut down oil shipments.

That's not even counting the 1000s of short-range rockets Hamas and Hizbollah have ready from the Gaza and Lebanon.

If Israel attacks Iran, it'll be a VERY interesting time...and one which the US is NOT able to stay out of the fight. We have a core, strategic interest in keeping the oil flowing from the Gulf and no president can allow it.

That's why the Obama admin is so adamant Israel NOT strike.

Interesting analysis. With Iran being such a tinderbox, I don't even think a war with Israel would unite the populace. Iran has the interned, they know of the Sampson option, they know of the supposed 400-800 warheads, some on MERV capable long range missiles. They also know we could have most of our carriers taskforces in the region in 2 weeks, with 100’s of Israeli and American warplanes in addition 100’s of thousands of battle hardend and experienced US ground forces it could end badly for Iran.

Instead of trying to take out Iran’s underground nuclear facilities why doesn’t Israel just take out their goofball leaders? Then finding and destroying the nuclear facilities would be a lot easier.

I have been saying the same thing for years except that a successful strike against the leaders and republican guard would make an attack against the nuke facilities unnecessary.

The facilities are not the problem and they represent hundreds of millions in capital investment out of the pockets of average Iranians. The leaders are the long term problem, they were not chosen by the average citizen who do not support them and would cheer their elimination.

Oh, I keep it light and cheerful and really hold back. Family friendly environment here, and all.

I don't talk about Carter when I am out in the yard.

The Marine down the street cries for his mother and kneels and prays when I do. It's a pitiful sight.
