FORT WORTH, Texas The Army psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people at Fort Hood will be confined until his military trial, initially staying in a hospital where he is recovering from gunshot wounds, his attorney said Saturday.
During a hearing at Maj. Nidal Hasan's hospital room in San Antonio on Saturday, a magistrate ruled that there was probable cause that Hasan committed the Nov. 5 shooting spree at Fort Hood, said his civilian attorney, John Galligan. Hasan has been at Brooke Army Medical Center since the shooting, and his attorney said Hasan has been told he has permanent paralysis.
Galligan told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that the judge also ordered Hasan to pretrial confinement, which usually means jail, until his court-martial. The military justice system does not have bail for defendants.
The magistrate ruled that Hasan will initially remain in the hospital, where he is in intensive care, Galligan said.
Saturday's hearing was closed to the media. Officials at Fort Hood, about 150 miles southwest of Fort Worth, declined to comment.
Galligan said Hasan has no feeling from the chest down and has limited movement in his arms.

Suspect, what? Are they looking for someone else? I just love legalese; it is like a foreign language.
The doctors and nurses who must deal with this monster are better people than I could ever be. I don’t know how they do it without at least spitting on him. Maybe someone does spit in his food. Satisfying thought.
If you read the rest of the article his attorney is concerned about Hasan’s mail being read. I hope to God they took this terrorists computer muchless are reading his mail from al-quada I mean Obama I mean his mother.
Read the whole article, just have a problem with the word suspect, beyond that?
I’d serve him a ham sandwich.
I can just see his ‘dinner menu’ being rolled into the closest lavatory (I’m thinking what I would do, here).
Seriously, tho, you are right. The people who are taking care of this monster right know should be commended. I couldn’t do it....that’s for sure.
Who will make that 14? Francheska Valez was pregnant. Texas has an unborn victims law (feticide).
Is there any law that could be applied to a terrorist (OK, a “suspected” terrorist) not having a right to privacy regarding his mail and email communications?
If he’s paralysed from the waist down, I wonder if he’s on an Ensure-type diet? Halal Ensure?
right now^
Gosh I hate laptops and Saturday nights! Argh!
Ugh. No doubt at the ‘tax payers’ expense’.
Sort of makes me think longingly for a Dr. Chase (House, M.D., Season 6, Episode 3 The Tyrant).
Oh, schizophrenia.
But, think about it a minute as I mused about the absurdity of the NY trials. An Islamic terrorist kills 14 here in America and has a military trial. Islamic terrorists caught in other parts of the world on the battlefield get a civilian trial with all the bells and liberal whistles.
Oh, crap. Maybe it is time for my meds.
IMHO, I think he should be turned over to the State of Texas seeing this is where it all happened and that he shot that Texas LEO stopped him. Put him on the Texas “express lane” to meet his piss ant moon god, allah, better known as Satan.
I, too, have to commend those that are seeing to his care. Personally, I just couldn’t do it. I’d have to quit before taking the law into my own hands. I’d have to do him in at the first scant opportunity presented.
I hope his food is being cooked in bacon grease.
Keeping with the Obama administration’s fiction that he is not a terrorist, he gets a military trial. If he were considered a terrorist, he would get a civilian trial, in keeping with the administration’s lunacy.
Hey Obama, where’s the Executive Order mandating his release? If he’s “held” in custody, that’ll piss off the Muslims and we surely wouldn’t want to do that!
