C-SPAN 2 is carrying the Senate floor debate live this afternoon.
The Democrats control the floor right now. Earlier, Republican Senators Judd Gregg, Kit Bond, Jeff Sessions and David Vitter gave good speeches and dialogues on the budget-busting effects of ObamaCare.
Maria Cantwell is speaking now. Mary Landrieu is excpected to speak shortly.
The cloture vote is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST tonight.
Dingy has the votes to start the debate. Not the vote on Deathcare.
That means either a Republican flipped (Likely Snowe) or Lieberman caved.
Any bets which?

At the end of the day, the 60 votes to start the "debate" means they have at least 51 to pass the bill. I sure as hell hope it's not true.

Actually, the “buy this crappy insurance or go to jail for 5 years and pay 250,000 thousand dollars find” bill is brilliant....look at how many of the unemployment will no longer be on the streets....will be instead in jails...requiring more “shovel ready” facilities and prison guards...jobs, jobs, jobs! Plus taking people’s money in fines will help finance continuing the stimulus to bail out the big bankers and grow govt!

Reid is just paying lip service to get the votes for tonight to make reconciliation even possible. No 60 votes tonight to open debate then no reconciliation is even possible...that’s why TONIGHT is the KEY vote.
I couldn't disagree more. I want every word of what these thieving, lying, corrupt scum-buckets are saying on the Congressional Record so when the 2010 elections come around, we can point to their words as we collectively yell from the voting booths "YOU'RE FIRED!!!"
