What was expected to be a boring congressional hearing erupted into high drama yesterday as an unnerved Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner sparred with frustrated lawmakers calling for his head over his handling of the economy.
Clearly rattled by a fusillade of attacks from Republican members of the Joint Economic Committee, the usually reserved Geithner lashed out, laying blame for the current economic mess at the feet of the GOP and rejecting suggestions that he resign.
Republicans "gave this president an economy falling off the cliff," Geithner fired back at Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas), one of the Treasury secretary's harshest critics during the hearing. "I can't take responsibility for the legacy of crises you bequeathed the country."

Of course the senators who voted to confirm this tax cheat should be the ones testifying... but we know that will never happen.
It is nice to see them confirm that their "taking responsibility" bilge was all a bunch of crap.
Man, I can't believe we're stuck with this pack of losers for three more years.
But wait, doesn't Congress control the purse strings? And what party has been in charge the last three years? Wasn't dear leader a member of that crew for two of those years, Timmy?
New administration protocall:
Know that if your are appointed by this administration you will be fitted with a bulls eye on your back. If the president is accused or any of his staff for any wrong doing within your agency he and we will take out our trusty index finger and do what all good liberal socialist marxists do,, we will point the finger at you and if you come under fire we will run and hide, you will be left out there to fend for yourself. We look forward to working with you with the presidents agenda by design as our model for America.

1. Hmmm... so what exactly was Geitner’s last job before becoming Treasury Secretary? Presumably it had nothing to do with economic policy, maybe he was an airline pilot or something. So who exactly was it that bequeathed this economy to him? Or did I just see the man stick it to himself?
2. Job creation. If they create one job that lasts for one year (1 man-year), they take credit for one job created. If they create 12 jobs that last one month (still only 1 man-year) they take credit for 12 jobs. So why don’t they just layoff and rehire the same guy earh hour of every day for a year, then they can take credit for 2000 jobs created? Oh, that IS what they’re doing? Oh, OK then, never mind, so glad that Timmy is on it.
3. What ever happened to our friend we were introduced to last winter, Mr. Shovel Ready? Now the Treas Sec says the stimulus was desinged to ooze agonizingly slowly over several years. I thought back in January it was all about “shovel-ready” projects. Didn’t we hear all about states with projects ready to go, just needed funding? That buzz-phrase “shovel-ready” had a very short life in the American economic debate, didn’t it?
“I can’t take responsibility”
And therein lies the problem.
I think I hear a bus coming...
The Magic school bus????
Tax CHEAT Timmy should NEVER have been given a job OVERSEEING the IRS!! What a CORRUPT administration!!
The weasel had the opportunity to resign from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York if he didn't like the way things were going. He was president from 03 to 09. If he gets the ax, it is likely he will be replaced with someone worse.
The only reason he got confirmed, was that he was suppose to be the brightest bulb in the room when it came to economic matters. Since it appears that isn't so, he is just a 2 bit tax cheat..
......gave this president an economy falling off the cliff....
I call it brilliant.
It will assure the end of Rat domination for at least a decade. The natural inclination to spend is actually overcoming the rational need to not spend and is alienating the left and the middle. The Holy Grail bills are failing. Obama is failing and will be the last black President.
By forcing the issues to climax in his last days, he assured his sucessor would fail.
Tonight should give us a pretty good indication of how well the “holy grail” bills will do.
he is just a 2 bit tax cheat
^
He got to enjoy his money before Congress wasted it, smart or selfish?
A more “weasely” character I have never observed in my life.
One thing about him that I find curious is that, like Hussein, Geithner spent many of his formative years outside the US. To me, that suggests a great deal about why those two have tried so hard to undermine our economy and financial system.
