Costco nixes Coke products over pricing dispute
Costco customers may have to look elsewhere for Coca-Cola products now that the retailer has stopped carrying them because the pair are fighting over prices.

ATLANTA Costco customers may have to look elsewhere for Coca-Cola products now that the retailer has stopped carrying them because the pair are fighting over prices.
The public squabble between one of the nation's largest wholesale club operators and the world's largest soft drink maker is likely to fizzle quickly. But it reveals real tensions as retailers and product makers square off on prices.
As shoppers continue to grapple with the recession, retailers want to win their favor by giving them low prices. But that has been creating tension between product makers like Coca-Cola Co., who are working hard to maintain profit margins while meeting retailer demands.
Typically such negotiations take place behind the scenes, but once in awhile, a public dispute erupts.

We don’t generally buy soda pop unless it is $2.50 a 12-pack or less. Like you, we stock up when it’s on sale, otherwise we do not buy it. We have, a couple of times, bought it at $2.80 a 12-pack but $3.00 pricing is the definitive “stop buying” line for our family.
When I first heard this earlier this week, I had to make a run over to Costco to pick up a couple cases of the Mexican Coke to last me until this thing settles itself out.
I shop at Costco - what bothers me is “green” products everywhere that are more expensive and not as good. Really - Costco needs to poll the politics of their shoppers - we’re NOT a bunch of liberals.
The only place I can get Delaware Punch in the Bottles....
(Unbelievable site!)
Costco is run by liberals, they don’t really care what their customers think.
"Welcome to Costco, I love you."
I love Coca-Cola, but I drink about one a month because I don’t want to end up looking like that guy.
Yes. The new "green" Kirkland dishwasher detergent is a POS. Too bad, because the old stuff that they made was just as good as Cascade. So I've switched back to Cascade.
I like Coke Zero, it’s the first diet soda I can drink without gagging, and to me I really can’t tell the difference between Zero and Real Coke. YMMV.
This here is a must read if you drink Coke. I drank Coke all my life but I never will purchase a Coke again as long as I live. When you read this you might stop drinking it too. =

Not so. Pepsi and Coke taste radically different, as do name brands and store brands. Fortunately I'm not a Coke addict, but I can't even tolerate the taste of Pepsi.
That pisses me off too. Liberals get a chance to vote with THEIR wallets but we get to get our noses rubbed in overpriced falsehood or go somewhere else. I'm reminded of the time some bunch of greenie weenies or other was calling Staples out because not enough of their customers were buying recycled crap paper and other products. As if it's Staples' job to defy and steer OUR preferences instead of STFU and stock the stuff WE want to buy.
Power company, same shiite. The Weenies can buy green power (for extra, of course) but I can’t exclude it, either to get a price break, or because I don’t think the greens have made their case, nor can I specify nuclear only, either because it’s cheaper, because I want to flip off the greens, or because it’s more engineering intensive and I happen to be an engineer.
Reminds me of McDonald's "McLean" burger - it was made with seaweed. NO ONE WANTED to buy it. The liberals who called for it are WAAAAAY to good to eat in a McDonalds - and the folks who do eat there didn't want to eat the stuff - it was awful. Finally, McDonalds pulled it.
Costco can offer some of the green organic - but there's a tipping point where I won't shop there. It's not as far away as Costco might think either... That tipping point is where I pay more for less so some liberal can feel good about himself...
If a liberal exec at Costco wants to feel good, he should donate some of his own money to a liberal cause - NOT force me to do it....
I agree with everything you've said - that feels nice. :)
