MEIJER PREPARES FOR CROWD AT PALIN BOOK SIGNING

FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- A Meijer's Department Store in Northeast Fort Wayne is preparing for what could be an onslaught of customers looking for a chance to meet a big star in the world of politics.

Sarah Palin didn't get elected Vice-President, but she figures to be a huge hit at an event here in town on Thursday. Palin will only be in the city a short time to sign copies of her new book, but the possibility of getting to meet her up close and personal is expected to draw supporters like a magnet.

The Meijer at Interstate 469 and State Road 37 will host the former Alaska Governor between noon and three p-m Thursday, as Palin is trying to spur sales of her new book entitled, "Going Rogue". The first thousand qualifying customers in line for a wristband earn the chance to have up to two copies of the book signed by John McCain's running mate in the last presidential election. Meijer anticipates a big overflow crowd.

Pat Mead/Meijer Manager: " It'll actually create some excitement, obviously, having somebody come in to do a book signing and I think there is a very large interest in the community to see her, so I think it'll be good for the community."

Martha Barrow/Palin Fan: " I like her, I think she's a down to earth person, just a family person and I think she can do just as good a job as the men do, maybe better."

I got an e-mail from Borders yesterday. They’re having a sale, 50% off the purchase from a list of 20 Best Sellers. Teddy the Swimmer’s book is on that list, and so is Stephen King’s new book, but Sarah’s is nowhere to be found.

Cindy Sheehan, at “Camp Casey” near GWBush’s ranch a few years ago when the media was still hyping her. This was her book signing. More reporters there than anything else.

The same mythmaking that gave us President Obama, empty suit.

“...having *somebody* come in to do a book signing”

Interesting that the store manager did not want to use Palin’s name and preferred a generic reference - ha ha, maybe an Obamabot.

Just for comparison to see if the national press covers these Palin book signings. What office did Cindy Sheehan ever hold? Didn’t she run for office recently?

I bought one at Wal-Mart today but I was also packing boxes for the troops in Afghanistan. Doing that instead of Christmas this year.

So - I put the book in the box. Hope someone reads it over there.

I will buy another for myself.

No, Teddy’s book is entitled “True Compass”. I guess that’s a reference to his sailing. It came out just after he died. I won’t spend any of my precious time reading it, because I consider him a failure as a man, though he’s lionized by the same people who would dismiss Sarah Palin in a heartbeat.
