White House backs off cancer test guidelines
Washington Post ^ | 11/19/09 | Rob Stein and Dan Eggen

A top federal health official said Wednesday that the controversial new guidelines for breast cancer screening do not represent government policy, as the Obama administration sought to keep the debate over mammograms from undermining the prospects for health-care reform.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, in a written statement, said the new guidelines had "caused a great deal of confusion and worry among women and their families across this country," and she stressed that they were issued by "an outside independent panel of doctors and scientists who . . . do not set federal policy and . . . don't determine what services are covered by the federal government."

Sebelius's statement challenged the recommendations of that influential panel, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, made up of independent experts assembled by her department to address one of the most explosive issues in women's health.

Has anyone noticed the socialists back down whenever the feel the wrath of the people? That’s a cue we should turn up the heat on all their socialist ideas.

I just want to remind you that this was the “death panel” in action. They will reduce your care to control population. You women should be panicked. These people are Satanic.

It was just bad timing. They don’t want to be discussing mammogram rationing until after the health bill has been passed.

They especially don’t want to scare off women voters, who were among Obama’s most enthusiastic supporters last November.

Backing off and the constant stream of appointees that resign shortly after being tapped, due to shady pasts and the inability to pay taxes....

The Chicago Way.

Let's not unveil our death panels until after health-care reform is passed.

On this one, yes.... as well as a few others. However, they ignored and even denied the existence 1 to 2 million citizens standing outside their front door.

These clowns won’t learn until THEY actually feel the pain and loss, personally.

It was her d*mn department that set this "independent panel" up. Liar, liar, pants on fire, Sibelius.

The principle of rationing has been demonstrated. The White House can’t really back off from that.

Doublespeak at its’ finest. The panel is independent, but it was hired by the government to do the study, but the government sponsored study doesn’t represent the government. Whaaaat?

Maybe someone in my Congressional District 00, or 99, or 69 office can clarify her answers. LOL

yes, at EVERY opportunity we should pressure them, paint them and their ideas as dangerous.

In this case they can try to step back BUT this is EXACTLY what the Nobama panels deciding the most cost effective modals of care were to be like.

Nobama was very strong on this part of his healthcare scheme; this was a way to keep costs down AND where the “take the pain pill” rather than have the operation came from.
