Is there anything Unions can't f**k up?

I swear that unions are like a cancer.

Also,
But by thwarting performance bonuses, the union is hurting students, ...

It's a Teacher's Union...is there any doubt what their priority is?

Union or not, it seems organizations flouting performance pay/bonuses leave the criteria for getting such a bonus very vague. I can see unions pushing back on this.

Unions reward mediocrity and discourage achievement.

Nothing new.....It’s what they do.

It’s the basic, basic, basic union position.

Seniority is everything. Competence and hard work are nothing.

Seniority is everything. Repeat after me . . . .

It’s all about equality of outcome. Bring everyone down to the level of the least capable in the group. That’s the progressives’ idea of leveling the playing field.

I’m surprised the program got past the planning and talking stages without this silliness raising it’s ugly head.

“They should all share in the money.” That’s wise thinking Stutman. The math teacher that worked hard to teach his or her student’s to pass the test and increase student aptitude really should share that bonus with the gym teacher.

Not the teachers, apparently. Like any long-standing union, it has given into making support of the union itself the top priority.

Public schools are one of the best arguments against socialism. This is yet just another example of how it will ALWAYS fail.

Unions don’t like the idea of pay for performance. Their mantra is “from each according to their abilities, to each according to their needs.” - the loser’s motto.

“Orlov said the 10 state schools that accept the bonuses saw a 39 percent increase in students who passed the AP exam.”

The NEA is a communist front. On their home page, there is a place to click for “must read” and Saul Alinsky is listed there.

Gates should have known better, but he was seduced by the liberalism of his mother and father.

“There’s no one solely responsible for the development of these students,” Stutman said. “They should all share in the money.”

In this instance, I agree with the man.

AP Calculus, for example, means that the algebra, geometry, trig, and pre-calc teachers in the past had done really fine jobs. Why should one teacher get all the credit?

“You can think of this as smart money,” Orlov said.

And union dues as stupid money.

I wonder when people who pay to be a slave to mediocrity - and in the case of teachers, are additionaly largely supportive of educational and political systems that force feeds the dumbing down of our nation's future- are going to calculate how much of their paychecks are going to destroy their student's futures.

How many care? Usually all we hear about is more attempts to lower the bar across the board, and that the color of their skin is keeping their brain from working, so for those students, the bar has to be even lower.

Frankly, it'd be a "change" to find that students are suddenly doing much better without having to bribe teachers to do their job.

The 1st incentive should be the kids, but that ain't gonna happen, so it should be continued employment.

If they can't teach, send 'em back to Dairy Queen.

insisting the dough be divvied up among all of a school’s teachers, good and bad.

This is the liberal way. Equal! My son went to a party last week for law class students. There was a young lady there who mentioned in each conversation how Obama would make all things equal. In every topic. When the NCAA was mentioned she said, Obama is going to fix that so there are no winners.

When he told me I could not imagine someone that stupid. Then I remember Obama's equal for all except ME and my thugocracy arrogance.

Well, I am abandoning most Freepers here and say I admire the union for acting on princple --- their version of it.

In order to be effective, all unions must be steadfastly uncompromising, but also vigilant that excellence is never rewarded, since that would, by clear implication, identify the incompetent members in the membership, which may be an astonishing percentage of the whole.

So, yeah, they've got to oppose this.
