So yesterday we learned that Major Hasan was hanging out with an 18-year-old self-radicalized "jihad hobbyist." According to the expert Jarret Bachman, these kids start out with lighter fare and progressively seek out increasingly violent and angry rhetoric. When one seeker was looking on YouTube for martyrdom videos, they were directed to "look around online in the jihadi blogs." The internet and the videos available on YouTube and elsewhere are a part of the process for these would-be terrorists. Thanks YouTube - aren't you proud?
In looking through videos the other day, I stumbled upon this one...
The point of all this is that jihadis do not exist in a vacuum on their own. They feed off each other, giving each other support, send each other propaganda which reinforces their radicalism, and they egg each other on to transition from what Jarret Brachman calls "jihobbyist" to becoming terrorists.
Over here!
The current regime is too busy fact-checking Sarah Palin’s book to be bothered with this sort of thing.
Another jihadist who liked the strip clubs!

Good thing we’re restricting mamograms instead of looking into this!
They are also complicit in cute kitten videos:

The rats.
Funny. True too.
Isn’t that the biggest load of BS you’ve ever heard?
Yeah, well, when one of those cute kittens goes on a shooting rampage on a US military base and kills 14 of my fellow citizens I’ll be pretty upset about that too. PHBLT!
Pretty hot bacon lettuce tomato?
Sorry, I'm not familiar with that.
And Youtube sensors Rev Manning....
PHBLT!
(Better?)
Excellent post. Thanks for the research and putting this together, Star.
Thanks for the ping. You know the ONLY thing that could POSSIBLY be a positive from YouTube leaving these videos up is the Intel it could provide via the statistics you have shown, but then we’d actually have to have enough official intel folks to look through, sort, and track down the leads... I’m guessing we don’t have those resources at the ready...
It’s really sad when it seems that the average US citizen can do more and learn more about the people threatening our country than the CIA/FBI/Homeland Security/JTTF etc... I point to our own Threat Matrix here at FR as an example. [I KNOW that when dealing with intel it’s not like they are going to advertise what they are doing and all, but it doesn’t seem as if enough is being done, and it’s VERY frustrating to me!]

Hope someone can figure out how to use the U.S.’s laws and Yahoo’s own mission statement against them. It would be real nice to blow up the terrorist videos.
Thanks Star and the others for the continual tracking of this cr@p and keeping us up to date.
Here’s an idea: charging, trying, convicting, and executing the people who run Youtube for Treason against the United States of America.
YouTube Fact Sheet (cached version for the purpose of highlighting requisite factoids)
Financially speaking, YouTube is a big losing proposition.
Sorry — I can’t be convinced it is “extreme” when they are being used by terrorists to promote their cause, and when some of the videos they have left up, literally for YEARS, are embedded on terrorist website as a source for encouraging more followers to become terrorists. If youtube can’t make it work financially, then that’s their problem, not mine. Ignoring what they are doing because I feel sorry that their business sucks is NOT a viable solution.
Well then ignore the math and call for YouTube to be shut down. That’s what it’ll take.
Hey - there are some pretty smart people out there. YouTube has the ability to tell where the videos it hosts are being linked and/or embedded. Maybe a list of terrorist website should be a red flag that a video should be removed? There should be some automatic stuff that just makes sense. If I, a SAHM homeschooler can find out this crap, then people who do it for a JOB should be able to at least run some sort of cursory search. I just can’t believe that I need to ignore what they are doing — is that what you’re telling me? Just give up because I am hurting their business? I guess YouTube’s just one of those good businesses that got in with the wrong crowd. It’s not really their fault. (Sorry BP — I’m not angry at you — the whole thing is just frustrating and I can’t believe you really mean what it sounds like you are saying! :-) )
