They've put tools in place for us to help police the site much the same way FR has the "Abuse button". Sometimes things get through and the next thing you know you're featured on O'Reilly for being a hate site.

Again, videos by the hundreds of thousands uploaded per day. Losing a quarter billion each year. All you can do is keep flagging and hope for the best.

YouTube may very well be a thing of the past in a year or two.

Ok - yes - I know things slip through. But when someone hits the abuse button here at FR, the mods are ON IT! At YT, about half the time when they review violent videos, they go behind an “over 18 only” wall. This means that the reviewer looked at the offending video and deemed that it wasn’t offensive enough to actually remove. That demonstrates complicity more than anything else.

Jeez, I go to dinner and look what I miss.

Buford - I’m sure the Smack Down people have missed a lot of videos but when large numbers of Youtube viewers flag a particular video, nothing happens. Even when there are special alerts being sent out on FRmail, not the public thread, the videos stay.

We just can’t sit around and wait for something to happen. We may not like the results. So we need to try to shape whatever might happen. Unfortunately Youtube is a tough nut to crack.

Star - wasn’t there even a congressman who wanted to investigate Youtube and that went no where.

Any idea how many videos are merely flagged on a daily basis? You think there’s only a few people flagging videos? Think only Jihad videos are being flagged? Think there only a handful of videos to review? Think there’s an army of volunteers sitting around with nothing better to do then watch flagged videos?

No perspective.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that.

Yes - Lieberman was all over it for a while. Not sure why it petered out though.

No. Paid workers. And you know what, there is nothing in this country that is done without a responsibility attached. Heck - I have a pool in my back yard on my own private property and I am required to have at a minimum a 4 foot fence around it in order to make reasonably sure that someone couldn't accidentally fall in and drown. YouTube has internet servers. They need to make reasonably sure that terrorists aren't using their service.
