Washington (CNN) -- Military victims of the Fort Hood massacre will be eligible to receive the Purple Heart if Congress passes a bill introduced Tuesday.
Non-military victims could receive the Secretary of Defense Medal of Freedom -- the civilian equivalent of the Purple Heart. Both military and civilian personnel killed or wounded in the November 5 attack would be granted the same legal status as combatant casualties in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The bill was introduced by Texas GOP Rep. John Carter, who represents Fort Hood in the House of Representatives.

That’s uncomfortably close to saying the attack was a military attack and not a civil crime...which leads us to question trying KSM in New York...

effin-a he’s an enemy combatant, and those troops suffered those wounds due to ENEMY action. Congress doesn’t need to do dick. It’s already covered. Just need an army chief of staff with some cajones. Uh oh. There goes that idea. Press on congress, and do the army’s command staff’s job.
I'd say that he's an enemy combatant ... and that he was wearing our uniform while engaged in direct action against us. That makes him a spy, IIRC ... seems to me The Army can just put him up against a wall and shoot him.
That is exactly why the RAT Congress or the RAT POTUS will never allow this measure to advance. Can't issue a Purple Heart for a Man Made Catastrophe.
And they probably won't. That would be an admission that this was a terrorist attack. That in turn would be a concession that Dick Cheney was right in stating that this country is less safe now than it was under the Bush White House.
I don't see it happening with this congress under this administration.
At the very least, he should be sent to GITMO, to be incarcerated with his brethren.

I think they should be given the Purple Heart. I wonder if the victims of Sgt. Akbar in Iraq were awarded the Purple Heart, or the victims in Little Rock a couple of months ago.
Maybe there should be a new medal for the victims of liberal diversity policy.

I believe he will be if the Soldiers’ wounds are considered ones warranting a Purple Heart. This not only backs FUBO into a corner, but also the dems in the House.

Oh, what noise will be made of this in the coming election year if it does NOT advance! This, more than any, will expose them for the anti-American vermin they are!
