White House "dismayed" at Jerusalem settlement expansion

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The White House said on Tuesday that it was "dismayed" over Israeli approval to expand the Gilo settlement in Jerusalem and sharply criticized the ongoing evictions and demolition of Palestinian homes.

"At a time when we are working to relaunch negotiations, these actions make it more difficult for our efforts to succeed," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said in a statement.

U.S. President Barack Obama has urged Israel to curb settlement expansion as a gesture of goodwill to Palestinians in an effort to restart the peace process.

Israel on Tuesday approved the building of 900 homes for Jews on West Bank land it occupied in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and annexed ..

...

But an Israeli government planning commission approved the addition of 900 housing units at Gilo, where 40,000 Israelis already live.

"We are dismayed at the Jerusalem Planning Committee's decision to move forward on the approval process for the expansion of Gilo in Jerusalem," Gibbs said in the statement.

"The U.S. also objects to other Israeli practices in Jerusalem related to housing, including the continuing pattern of evictions and demolitions of Palestinian homes," he said.

Some were not "dismayed".

I pray that since too many Americans are apparently too stupid to do it, Israel will put a check on Hussein’s “king of the world” complex.

The White House is now populated by Academic Socialist/Marxists. A tell would be Anita Dunn saying she is a compulation of Mao and Mother Teresa politically. Totalitarian Do-Gooders who think they know what is best for the ignorant masses...Us. They think the only reason Communism has always failed is because they were not in charge. What a Joke.

Does this mean that the WH is mad? I can’t tell because the WH always “substitutes a mild, indirect, or vague expression for one thought to be offensive, harsh, or blunt.”

Israel has defended herself in the face of death for decades but 0bama figured that Israel would just roll over if he made a speech or a phone call?

Now he’s dismayed.

Sheesh.

We’re about a generation behind the time when it was appropriate to reduce “Palestine” to a smoldering heap of rotting corps’ as an abject lesson on why jihadiscum shouldn’t want to piss us off.

There’s no use in pandering in any way, shape or form to any whine, snivel, excuse or “reason” that those conquered by the Arab ideology of Islam give for their “root causes” for constant, continuous and never ending belligerence.

"U.S. President Barack Obama has urged Israel to curb settlement expansion as a gesture of goodwill to Palestinians in an effort to restart the peace process. "

It's just obama's illusions of grandeur going amuck...he thinks "he won" presidency of the whole world. This is why he's traveling the world "apologizing", as he looks at all non-caucasion races like they are "minorities" and he - personally - owes them an apology (from his white half, no doubt) for any injustice the white man has thrust upon them in the entire history of the world.

Once a community organizer, always a community organizer. Community Organizer - you know, one whose job it is to whip the people into a frenzy to demand what they want, when they want it...sort of like the "lynch mobs" you see on cowboy movies about the old west.

Note of obama von zipper...you can't go from voting "present" to micro-managing the whole world...it doesn't work like that, I don't care what Alinsky said.

What a clown. I say to those who say we don't like him because "he's black"...If this is the way blacks intend and appove of the country being run, (or ruined), then perhaps they're right. If it is the mession of black Americans to allow America to be made into a socialist dictatorship, based on the promise of free money and healthcare, then they deserve what they get.

If they're going to let this inept jerk represent their entire race, then they are right again. Minorities are the first to stand up against "profiling", but this time they're doing it in reverse. Note to obama supporters: it does no good to hang on to a leaking life preserver...eventually it will take you down with it.

And why should it? Gilo is a neighborhood of Israel. During the “second intifada” of the early years of this decade, Jews living in Gilo were assassinated by Muslim palestinian Arab terrorists firing rifles at them from nearby Bethlehem (where they had taken over the city from the Christians).

“U.S. President Barack Obama has urged Israel to curb settlement expansion .... “

Obama didn’t “urge” jack, he “ordered” them. Israel just flipped Obama off..... and THAT is good.

Bad men can’t lead, if good men refuse to follow.

No, Mikey, no Israeli President ever has demanded that Israel stop building homes for its citizens within the boundaries of Jerusalem, its capital city. This is a new kind of pressure. The fact that Obama may turn out to be a paper tiger is not the issue.

Israel has said that it will “show restraint” in approving new construction in Judea and Samaria, the area our government calls the “west bank”, in order to facilitate restarting of “peace talks” between Israel and the palestinian Arabs.
