Internet effort launched to repeal Prop. 8 and legalize gay marriage
LA Times ^ | November 16, 2009 | Jessica Garrison

A group called Love Honor Cherish launched an Internet-based effort today to collect enough signatures to place a measure repealing Prop. 8, the anti-gay marriage law, on the state ballot by next year.

The signature-gathering drive will use social networking tools such as Facebook and Twitter, organizers said in a statement.

“We’re taking names,” said John Henning, who is heading the SignForEquality.com effort launched to collect the signatures. "People throughout California can now help us win marriage back by the simple act of signing and collecting signatures.”

Prop. 8 was approved by California voters a year ago, reversing a California Supreme Court decision, which held that same-sex couples were guaranteed equal marriage rights under the state Constitution.

Love Honor Cherish, based in Los Angeles, has 150 days to gather approximately 1 million signatures. The signatures are due April 12, 2010.

These folks just don't give up. I guess they'll have to be told multiple times.

They don’t give up because they know that sooner or later this will slip this thing by.

Two men can no more be married than you can put to male ends of a garden hose together. You cannot get electricity by plugging in two male or female electrical plugs together. That’s why they call them male and female.

In AMERICA it is done by the vote and will of the people. The poeple have spoken their will with their vote numerous times. They have no intention of dignifying your perversions.

gay marriage has nothing to do with rights or needs. Gays don’t need marriage. They just want the institution so that they can feel “normal”.

A clear sign that homosexuality is indeed a mental illness and liberals support their fellow crazies.

Calicommunists don’t believe in the “will of the people”. They want the glorious leaders to override the votes.

Bulls eye!

I have always said that they are so shrill because deep down they know they are totally depraved but instead of changing and growing towards God they scream and hurt people until they get man-made definitions and laws changed.

It never heals their hearts and souls but it makes it easier to put a thin veneer of correctness to their horrible actions.

They'll get their required signatures, get on the ballot under some innocuous-sounding but disingenuous title like, "freedom to marry," lose again - this time by a bigger percentage than Proposition 8 won - and then go to court to contest the results of their own referendum.

Liberals are absolutely insane.

"...help us win marriage "

Winning a Lamborghini is not the same thing as winning a race with a Lamborghini.

What is it about liberals that would cause everything to be a stinking lottery. Let's go WIN! I told my wife that the reason there was soooooo much partying going down in D.C. after the elections....was simply because, to them, winning was IT! That is the goal, that is the ONLY thing that they really want. Do they want to really change things for the better, take on the very issues that they screech about day and night? No way. It is all about "We Win!"

Just as they have no clue as to the true nature of marriage (a divine process)they also have no clue as to what it means to become an elected servant OF the people.

I think the blame-stream media has had a hand in supporting their delusion. There was a time when such actions would have resulted in waves of protests. When elected officials fail to deliver their promises, abuse their powers for political or private gain, support legislation and taxation that both burden their constituents and dilute their rights, they would be met with the constant barking of America's watch dog, the press. Now we only hear a wagging tail thumping around as it dances beneath the legs of the banquet table.

Gays don’t need marriage. They just want the institution so that they can feel “normal”.

This is true. In states where same-sex "marriage" is legal, only a very small percentage of open homosexuals choose this option. A recent article about a small Connecticut town revealed that in a year since fake marriage was enacted, only 8 residents of the state took advantage of it in that town. Another 25 were from out of state (no doubt, from states that do not recognize fake marriage.) This is completely counter-intuitive to what one would expect with the lifting of a "prohibition" - it should result in a flood of takers from the pent-up demand followed by a rapid decline. Other states show similar results of extremely low rates of same-sex "marriage."

Homosexuals want marriage in order to advance their radical nihilistic plan to dismantle every value system which is antithetical not just to their own pet vices, but to any Christian-based morality, whether it be fidelity within marriage, to sexual abstinence before marriage. They want no prohibitions.

It’s the same thing up here. The primary takers were tourists, who no doubt went back and clamoured for recognition.

>>Homosexuals want marriage in order

I expect a major reason they want marriage is the additional $250,000 capital gains exemption for married couples who sell their primary residence.

Marriage is a religious institution. The Tax Code and these “Deductions / Exemptions” constitute the nose of a governmental camel poked into the religious domain.

Eliminate the deductions by creating a Fair Tax... and we’d remove much of the conflict, IMHO.

“gay marriage has nothing to do with rights or needs. Gays don’t need marriage. They just want the institution so that they can feel “normal”.”

Well, as a man whose marriage was destroyed by the Gay Movement, I have to tell you I can’t disagree.

In researching my book project about what gay marriage is going to do to this country (after what it did to my own marriage), I talked to many gay people. Hell, I even went to Provincetown, MA.

I can tell you from what I learned; gay folks can be decent people, they just have no idea what they’re doing to the country by, as you put it so perfectly; ‘trying to be normal’.

We can’t sit back or lose sight of what they are trying to do. We have to stay vigilant because, as I’ve learned, they’re working ‘under the radar’. We have to stop this or it will do to our country what it did to my marriage.

You are wonderful allies here. I’m glad I found FR.

You are sadly incorrect. Benefit or no benefit, the fake cry of economic inequality by homosexuals is a red herring - this argument will quickly evaporate if/when they ever gain nationwide “marriage rights” as they approach and attack the next bulwark of common morality in society. Their arguments are all manufactured to gain their political ends - the complete dismantling of a Christian ethic in society.

The government does recognize marriage, a religious institution by pedigree. It did not invent marriage, nor does it define it. Society (by God's degree) has done that "from the beginning."

Since we're in the ignoring-reality mindset, I suppose government should not, then, recognize children and their parentage, since doing so inequitably harms those without children. /sarc

>>- the complete dismantling of a Christian ethic in society.

A dismantling process which, no matter how they dress it up, is a RELIGIOUSLY motivated endeavor.

Threatened loss of “tax-free” status works AGAINST free expression of religious speech - especially when that speech is critical of homosexuality.

Burn the Tax-Code’s Trojan Horse - Institute a Fair Tax and get government out of marriage.
