“Bill Owens’ campaign was aware of how close this race would be and had pre-emptively ordered the votes impounded to prevent Doug Hoffman being sworn-in immediately if the preliminary results went Hoffman’s way.”

That’s how the Dims were playing the game before the voting.

Conceding is simply “good sportsmanship” and and not legally binding in anyway.

Didn’t Algore take his concession back in 2000?

Man, that feels like so long ago.

I really like Doug. He worked hard and built up a business. We need more people like Doug. The Democrats enlist felons to run for their offices.

I loathe Newt Gingring and Dede for screwing this race up. Go to h*ll Newt!

Thank Newt and Dede for this mess. Doug should have won this going away.

It was Daschle I think that won because of it. And it was in the election before he was ousted.

Newt and Dede lost NY-23. Newt can go to hell.

Can someone with some expertise on constitutional law post a brief explanation on how a congressional candidate that has not been certified as the election winner can be sworn in and vote?

If it is legal, what would be the remedy since he's already been sworn in? Would it essentially be a blown call with no booth review allowed?

That's hardly necessary,you putz.
I don't need you to "fill me in" on anything,and,no,i've haven't "been asleep" since 1980.
However, I am a human being and have a tendency to forget things from time to time,but thanks for your oh-so-tolerant acceptance of those who aren't quite as smart as you.
Now get lost.
Ask a simple question,get a totally-uncalled-for smartassed answer.

Too late. The Dem has already been sworn-in. Pelosi will NEVER allow Hoffman into the House.

10,000/2 = 5,000
5,000+1,000=6,000
He needs 60% of the absentee ballots left uncounted to win. That’s a pretty tall order but is not an impossibility.

It should since she pushed Owen on the oath before he has been certified.

If he wins, can the healthcare vote be nullified or is that a done deal???
+++++++++++++++

That bill would have still passed 219 - 216 - but it’s important for any future votes on health care. At the very least it just makes all the *more* corrupt for what they did in seating Owens, and the “elections” of Franken, Gregoire, et al.

The RAT party is the party of lies, corruption (literally throwing elections (ACORN/COI, SEIU et al)), socialism and communism (Van Jones, Mao adorers).

Any questions?

Are they still recanvassing? Also, if it’s razor thin, there’s probly gunna be a recount. Who controls the recount apparatus in the district/state - probly the RATS.

I don’t want to rain on the parade, but I’ll believe this when I see it. I saw the Gregoire camp literally rob the election from Dino Rossi - even though ACORN/COI was implicated in massive voter fraud in King Co. in 2004.

Thanks for providing this story link; I thought it provided a nice summary of the current and possible future status.

One quote from the story:

"The New York State Board of Elections was unable to prevent this action, indicating that the House of Representatives is the sole arbiter of who may join their ranks."

I think this is constitutionaly correct for the senate but don't recall it being the same for the house. Insight anyone?

Can Christie dispatch his several-hundred lawyers to NYS, LOL? I don’t care if they’re not licensed to practice in NY; didn’t stop Nancy from swearing in a guy that hasn’t legally won.

Actually 10,000 were distributed...I believe the actual numbers of absentee which came back in was around 5800.
++++++++++++++++++

Are Doug Hoffman’s numbers off - and the RAT press numbers accurate? I’m just askin’...

I think the tightening may have been due to the recanvassing?

Also, as to the percentages that may have voted for Hoffman - I’ve heard that a good portion of the absentee ballots were military. Wonder if that’s true?
