Shame, I liked the show simply because it was so politically incorrect, and I often wondered why a Jaguar in NYC...

RIP. I always liked that show. Most of the remakes do not hold up well.

I often wondered why a Jaguar in NYC...

I admired his uncanny ability to find street parking wherever he went!

Sergeant Howie: The Wicker Man. Where I first noticed his presence and unquestioned talent.

Breaker Morant: The film that put him and Bryan Brown on the map.

Robert McCall, The Equalizer: A role that he owned opposite ‘Control’ Robert Lansing and Mickey Kostemeyer.

Would have made a superb George Smiley if Sir Alec Guiness hadn’t jumped at the offer.

The world will be less colorful with Mr. Woodward’s passing.

Jack.

Never heard of the guy and never watched Equalizer. Sounds like a loser show.

Never heard of you, either. You’re the loser. What a jerk!

Basically, the character was a retired James Bond with less libido and more evil bastard dirty tricks plus a heck of a lot more realism than ever seen in any Bond film.

And The Equalizer's Robert McCall was the actually the kindest, gentlest of Woodward's secret agent characters

Callan's David Callan and La femme Nikita's Mr Jones, now they were ruthless bastrichs

Breaker Morant was one of Ronald Reagan’s favorite movies. But I really liked Woodward as the Ghost of Christmas Past in the George C Scott version of A Christmas Carol.

Sounds like a loser show.

At the 1987 Golden Globe Awards, he won Best Actor in a Dramatic TV Series for his role of Robert McCall in The Equalizer. At the Emmy Award from 1986 to 1990, he was nominated each year for The Equalizer.

Usually on a thread like this when someone has just died you don't usually denigrate their life or work. May I encourage you to think of the family and friends of Edward Woodward as human beings worthy of some respect.

Aww, dangit. I always liked him, whatever the role. RIP.

BTW, for those who’ve never seen the original Wicker Man, it’s definitely worth checking out. Edward Woodward’s performance is so far superior to Nicolas Cage’s (in the remake), it’s like night and day.
