The problem I have with my fellow Republicans is why gay marriage is the trump card in any situation. It seems that as long as you are against gay marriage, any scandal in your life can be overlooked or overcome. When you are in favor of it, however—and I have been very vocal about my support—that position defines you.

That is not the issue because she did not express an opinion on underage sex tapes one way or the other. The argument of hypocrisy depends on a fact not in evidence: that the assumptions underlying her position on the legality of gay marriage necessarily affect her position on the legality (not merely morality) of making underage sex tapes. I do not believe one has anything to do with the other.

Well, it's turned into a witch hunt by mccain and the gay lobby, so that's really what it's all about at this point.

I think she's 21 or 22 now, and if she was 17 then the statute of limitations might have even expired, I don't know. (NOW REMEMBER I SAID "I DON'T KNOW" BEFORE YOU LAUNCH INTO MY IGNORANCE OF THE STATUTES).

It would be very hard to find too many 17 year olds in the past 20 years who had NOT had sex.

So to answer your question, YES, I would be okay with it so long as it was consensual and no children resulted from the union.

Let's please be honest about Carrie Prejean...she had a choice to be a beauty queen or a spokesperson for Conservatism. She chose the latter. And please don't try to tell me that she was kicked out. She was kicked out after they had given her another chance. I am convinced Trump would have stood by her if she would have ABIDED BY THEIR RULES...but she wouldn't. And that's just the truth, as hard as it is to hear.

So now, if you choose to be a spokesperson for conservatism AND relious values, you better either address the skeletons in your closet or be prepared to get the kinds of hits she's getting. What changed my mind about her is her hunger for lawsuits. Personally, I don't like her anymore. Did in the begining..thought she was gutsy. But now she's just another opportunist. Glad she said what she said, but I wish she'd get out of the spotlight and do something with her life.

Normally it is a stupid question, except when it concerns Prejean. The question being asked is "if you are anti gay marriage in a public way and you make a sex tape, will the conservative right wing of the republican party support you"

In the case of Prejean, the answer is yes.

Meghan does miss the more important point which is "if you are anti gay marriage in a public way, will the leftist media go on a dirt digging witch hunt on you, the answer is yes, and if you are pro gay marriage in a public way, will the leftist media cover up numerous indiscresions for you (Ted Kennedy, Sharon Tate's husband, Barney Frank, etc.) the answer is also yes.

Bottom line: Meghan addresses the small hypocrisy of the right wing while ignoring the huge and glaring hypocrisy of the left wing. (but yes, regarding Prejean, the right wing does have a consistency problem)
