Nice to hear, but I don’t think Mississippi is hurting for Republicans. Won’t this just make a Republican State legislature even more so? But maybe it’s a portent for some upcoming switches in some purple States.

We don’t have a Republican state legislature, that’s part of the problem Barbour has had to deal with. We need all the CONSERVATIVES we can get; not dems or repubs.

Switching your party doesn't mean anything nowadays.
Dems and Pubs are becoming interchangeable.
I don't trust either of them much anymore.

Are they switching parties for principles or for political reasons.

Yep. Repubs switching parties shows how little difference there really is.

Perhaps...but it may also demonstrate the anger towards dems which will flush many of ‘em next election

We have TOOOOOOOOOO many republicans ...they are a dime a dozen. What we have a lack of and need desperately are conservatives.

Switching your party doesn't mean anything nowadays.Correct. It's actually telling your constituents that you've switched parties that means something.

All liberal Democrats would be happy to switch to the Republican Party. Why wouldn't they? They ensure that they never have to defend their job against a conservative if they switch and become Rinos. I have no idea why the GOP would allow it, unless they want the party subverted.

There hasn't been much difference between the two at the national level for a while now.

I would think the latter.
The good ole boy politicians go with the flow.
We need principled elected officials, not “I wanna get elected” at any cost politicians.
Some guy named Specter in my state did the swtitcheroo this year to get his butt re-elected next year.

Mississippi Democrats are likely to be more conservative than New York Republicans. I’ll take ‘em.

It wasn’t the first time Specter pulled the old switcheroo.
