Sarah Palin's new book "Going Rogue" is set for release on Nov. 17 and with that will likely come a media blitz of epic proportions. However, based on the cover of the Nov. 23 issue of Newsweek, someone felt a response was warranted.
The wizards of smart at Newsweek took an image from a shoot of Palin that originally appeared in Runner's World magazine for the cover and splashed the headlines, "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Sarah?" and "She's Bad News for the GOP - and For Everybody Else, Too."
Mike Allen of Politico previewed the cover in the Nov. 14 edition of his "Playbook." In it, he included these comments from Newsweek editor John Meacham who blamed Palin for Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., struggles with his conservative base in South Carolina. One of those struggles for Graham was his acknowledgment that climate change is a manmade phenomenon in need of a so-called "compromise," And that backlash is somehow former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's fault:
"What Obama advisers privately refer to as Palinism' has created a climate of ideological purity inside the GOP. To deviate from the anti-Obama line at all -- that is, to acknowledge that politics is the art of compromise -- risks the censure of the party. Pure ideologues will argue that this is a good thing; others like, say, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a close friend of Palin's onetime champion John McCain, think differently. Graham was denounced last week by the Charleston County Republican Party for working with Democrats on issues such as climate change; the senator's office replied by invoking President Reagan's belief that elected officials need to find common ground and work together to solve difficult problems.'"
Meacham went on to fret over Palin as a far-right figure and how her popularity has created an environment where "centrist" political figures in the GOP aren't willing to work with the Obama administration "for fear of a backlash from the base."
Left-of-center sensationalism isn't unprecedented for Newsweek magazine covers. Earlier this year, the brain trust at Newsweek declared us all socialists on their Feb. 16 magazine cover. And as Tim Graham, the director of media analysis at the Media Research Center, said then, "the only Newsweek cover that would be more obviously untrue would be We Are All Objective Journalists Now.'"
The red shirt is very like the on her book - but is NOT the same one...so, did Newsweek pull a photoshop, putting her head on someone else's body?
I checked Sarah's F - and her last entry was yesterday, commenting on the outrageous Gitmo/NYC insanity.
...
Look closely - the shirt is very similar - but not the same, which leads me to believe it's a deliberate photoshop - not the first time this kind of low life stunt has been pulled. And what on earth is that in 'her' hand?
I think there’s something to this! I don’t believe I can ever recall Lindsey Grahamnesty having any problems here at FR until this eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvviiiiiiiiilllllll woman burst on the scene. Didn’t there used to be a Lindsey Fans Only topic on this site until the Republican Convention?
oops -
“I checked Sarah’s FB...”
You damn right this is War. Seriously I am sick and tired of the hate this woman gets. This Newsweek hit piece sounds like a threat to me. “How do we solve the Sarah Palin problem” what are they suggesting should be done to “get rid of this problem” no wonder Sarah packs heat whenever she goes. I don’t blame her one bit. The leftists attacks on her I have never seen on ANYONE before. Bush got it bad, so did Reagan, but what Sarah has to deal with, its pure insanity
Has it ever occurred to Meacham that John McCain was about as center-right as you can get? Did he and his colleagues support him though? No, they supported the ultra-leftist Obama.
Also, Republicans have tried to work with Obama - but what happened? They got the door repeatedly slammed shut in their faces. Idiots like Meacham realize that conservatives aren't going to play the game anymore by supporting Republicans who'll advance the same goals as the Democrats. Finally, Meacham conveniently ignores how Lieberman was ran out of the Democrats, and he only supported the war.
“Shes got them scared to death.”
Yup, as Rush has said, the left will tell you who should run against the Rats in 2012.
Wait, so they are saying that Sarah encouraged South Carolina Conservatives to go after Lindsey Graham..well, if this is true..just another reason to love this woman
The picture is legit. It was one of the pictures in Runners World’s interview with Palin. I believe NEWSWEAK will be an epic fail. The fact is, most people don’t much care for either party, so being “bad news” for both of them will actually be seen as a good thing. When Runners World featured Palin on their cover, they sold 7 times as many magazines as normal on the newsstands. When TIME featured her a few months ago, they had to run several times more copies than usual, and still some stores imposed a limit of 2 per customer.
BTW, HarperCollins has announced that it is running more copies of Going Rogue since pre-release sales have been higher than expected, Amazon alone had over 80,000 pre-paid orders. Not bad for a book that hasn’t even come out yet.
If she’s bad news, then may we have a decade of Friday the 13th.
Let us pray for a lightning bolt, a plague of locusts, fire, flood, pestilence - or all of the above - to rid our planet of the ugly, hateful, execrable waste-of-paper that is “Newsweak”...
Sarah doesn’t look like much of a problem in that cover shoot, more like a solution. Normal as mom and apple pie with an American flag.
Who reads Newsweak anyway, Elinor Clift?
Glad to know that - and for a "Runner's World" sports mag - perfectly fine. Not appropriate for Newsweek Cover -but that's why they did it, of course.
Men will love it - and the lib women will seeth with jealousy.
Quite a gramma - growing up and continuing to eat all the wild meat and fresh fish has been good for the Palin family. (That reminds me, I've still got a piece of mincemeat pie - made with deer meat, of course. Guess I'll go warm it up.)
Nooseweak? Household unsubscribed ca 1970 — and never regretted it.
Newsweek... Once it was a reputable news magazine, but a takeover by hard-left interests have made it little more than a clone of “Mother Jones.”
Why it even retains the word “News” in its name is beyond me. It should be renamed “Libweek.”
Imagine that! Newsweek gets it wrong. Knock me over with a feather!
The liberals are just mad because all of their women are UGLY!
Conservative women= brains and beauty. A double threat!
“Why do they demonize her so and call her everything but the anti-christ.”
That would imply they actually believe in a God larger than 0bama.
