When Sarah Palin found out that her daughter Bristol was expecting a baby, she was doubly surprised the governor of Alaska wasn't even aware that the teen was having sex.
"That's why I was so shocked," Palin tells Barbara Walters in a new interview. "Truthfully, we were devastated."
In her sit-down with Walters, set to air Tuesday on Good Morning America, Palin talks about her public life and political aspirations during the 2008 presidential election. The former vice presidential nominee's highly anticipated book, Going Rogue: An American Life will be released the same day. Palin's 15-year-old daughter Willow also spoke, revealing she has her own hopes for her mother in the political sphere. Willow told Walters that it "would be cool" to see her mother become president.
The interview will also air on ABC's World News, Nightline and on 20/20 on Friday.

I think it would be cool, too.
of course she was devastated. You think any mother would be happy having that sack of nothing Levi coming to your house and saying “Hey I just got your daughter pregnant” Just what a mother always wanted, to be stuck with a Levi
She had a lot on her plate all at once, and she handled it with as much grace and aplomb as anyone could have done under similar circumstances.
“....Just what a mother always wanted, to be stuck with a Levi”
What does that mean? I agreed with you up to that point.
Especially since it was rags like People who breathlessly reported the stupid "It's Palin's baby!" hit piece.
All of this publicity has got to be driving T-Paw, Romney and Huckabee nuts.

I had to look up that fancy word!
No matter what, the Palins cannot be rid of Johnston because he is the father of a member of their family. He will always have a presence in their lives.
With regard to your last sentence... one can only hope!
What I meant is that Levi is a loser. I can’t imagine any mother being thrilled to have someone like Levi being the father of their grandchild. She wanted better for her daughter.
Actually... your statement is not spot on. Many baby daddies go their way and never are involved in their child’s lives.
Oh of course it’s driving Huckabee and Romney nuts. They would kill for this kind of media exposure. When they say something, no one cares, but when Sarah says it, people listen, even if they hate her they still listen to what she says. I am SO excited to read this book, and the interviews are gonna be AMAZING
Romney has moved on to huffing extra strength Aqua Net to cope and rumor has it, Huckabee hasn’t cooked a squirrel in a coffee pot since this whole thing started.
Well, it was the correct word to use in that context, now wasn’t it?
:-)
Sure they can. My brother was the king of all alcoholic, drug abuse, violent people to walk this earth.
My nephew never knew him.
So, she’s no different than any other parent presented with their teen daughter’s pregnancy. I didn’t expect she would feel any other way than devastated. That’s generally our first reaction with that news. Shock, devastation, grief, sadness, resignation.
I remember when my teen stepdaughter was pregnant. I was at my son’s Little League game watching a group of HS girls cheer the boys on. They were so cute, in their shorts and tank tops, standing up to cheer on ‘Chase’ and ‘Dustin’ and ‘Tyler’, giggling and being silly. I had to go in the bathroom to cry, thinking that that is what my stepdaughter should be doing that spring, not wearing maternity clothes and worrying about cribs and diapers and finishing HS. It broke my heart.
Yes, I agree with you. That’s why I find the personal attacks on her to be particularly distasteful.
She is well-grounded in her faith and her family and her patriotism, and she acts accordingly.
Her devastation at the time had little to do with Levi, but her own daughter. It would not have made a difference who the baby’s father was. That Levi proved to be a lout after the fact only made it worse.
NO mother wants to find out her teenage daughter is sexually active, much less to find out simultaneously with her daughter’s pregnancy.
Note to teenage girls: MOST of the guys do turn out to be louts.
Do you reckon that Palin condoned or condemned the dating of Levi by Bristol? Or were they sneaking around behind mama's back?
