Incomprehensible jargon: TSA personnel memo from management.
TSA Weekly ^ | 4/27/09 | TSA

Posted on 11/14/2009 4:36:06 PM PST by Oscar the Grouch

What a testament to the spirit and dedication of our workforce that we were able to reach 100 percent completion of ENGAGE! and COACH! training of nearly 55,000 TSA employees in less than a year – while also carrying out our security mission. This required team spirit, determination and the enthusiastic embrace of taking the evolution of security at TSA to the next level. On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, congratulations to OSO HQ and field leadership, the Evolution team, the phenomenal facilitators, and our committed workforce for completing this phase of our cultural evolution with passion, enthusiasm and conviction. This accomplishment showcases TSA’s incredibly talented workforce, “can do” spirit and commitment to our mission........

Looking through the TSA website today, I ran across this little "gem" in the TSA Weekly newsletter from 4/27/09. This appears to be from some HR person named "Gale" who is clearly exhorting the troops to strive for bigger and better things. Unfortunately, after read the whole memo, I really could not decipher its meaning. I submit this to you all a prime example of Class A Prime Government meaningless jargon. This memo has every hackneyed phrase and cliche in the book.

Your tax dollars hard at work at the TSA!

All that means is that the TSA people were NOT working the airports, and instead people had to wait in HUGE lines, in some cases.

So next week as you go about your security mission “ENGAGE! – connect with yourself, your team, and your environment in order to create greater security.

In other words....GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF! The TSA has been the most successful welfare-to-work program to date with a stellar (!?!) record of Workers Comp claims.

It doesn’t really say anything other than “rah rah team.”
But then it’s a government agency - do you expect more than that?

You nailed it real well!!!

Might reuse the ‘successful welfare-to-work program’ line soon.

As I have said before, the TSA has made me a ‘frequent driver’ as I fly only when there is no other way I can get there!

"While the front line workforce was successfully completing training, the Evolution Team was very busy soliciting feedback through focus groups, pilot testing new tools for sustainment, communicating with Evolution network participants and making airport support visits, to be ready for this next step. And on their own, many local leaders began immediately developing sustainment teams, determining best practices and moving forward to design and implement Evolution sustainment tools."

Your tax dollars at work.

This was training for TSA screeners to be able to deal with passengers who are rude offensive obnoxious and arrogant. So that they could deal with them without blowing up or getting the agency in trouble. If you don’t like the long lines at airports try being polite and observe the posted rules. Try being civil to the people who just want to get you through security instead of being obnoxious jackholes.
They would not have to do this training if it were not for people who try to sneak shit through security or are to stupid to be informed of what they can and cannot have with them on the plane. So before any of you get on your high horses to rip TSA or DHS a new one think of that....

I'll remember that next time I see an 80 year-old grandmother taken out of line and wanded. Cream if the crop, I'm sure.

"Senior Leadership Team" a term dripping with assclownery.
When your executives start refering to themselves as the SLT run for the exits or you will bear the brunt of their idiocy and suffer.

How are everyday travelers supposed to deal with TSA employees who are rude, offensive, obnoxious and arrogant?

Their blog is totally out of date.
http://www.tsa.gov/blog/2008/01/gripes-grins.html

I guess they were getting too many complaints. Might hurt morale.

Rude passengers?! I have to say that as a group, tsa workers go about their jobs in a very rude manner. And while they are wasting taxpayer $ at stupid govt conferences and sensitivity training they are not doing their jobs. This costs the productive class time and money.

Actually, it appears that “Gale” is the head of the entire thing. Here’s her bio, written in the same style:

Speaking of cost, let us all keep in mind that on every ticket we buy there is (IIRC) $5 for ‘post 9/11’ security... above whatever tax burden we also endure!

No kidding, looking at TSA (Thousands Standing Around) @ airports and you would have to assume the 12% minority was instead the MAJORITY.

SBUN:
You advise everyone to be civil to TSA agents while they violated everyone’s constitutional rights. To paraphrase Steven Bierfeldt, the Ron Paul staffer who was illegally detained by TSA because he was carrying money: “Is it legally required for me to do that?”

We do not have to be civil to any government official, especially not when they are demanding “Papier, bitte!” We don’t have to lie down like a lap dog hoping for approval from its Master when faced with violations of our rights. Perhaps you forgot the part about “Freedom of Speech”? Or the “Right to Petition Government to Redress Grievances?” If you don’t respect the right for people to speak as they please, then perhaps you should resign from TSA before the ACLU sues TSA again for ignoring yet another constitutional right.

Harry Truman said it best: “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.” And once you leave, how about utilizing your free time to read the Bill of Rights for the first time?
