0’s as stupid as he is dangerous.

When I saw this my reaction was "And liberals have the nerve to call George Bush stupid?"

Before this fool’s unhappy term is up, he will be on his knees kissing their feet.

Someone here with more knowledge than I should confirm or deny what I learned at a dojo decades ago, namely that the angle of bow is of significance. I was taught that exposing the nape of the neck (in essence offering the neck to a sword blow) was to affirm obeisance to the master, who had the power of life and death over you. I was taught to always keep my forehead up.

As I recall, Mr. Miyagi made the same point (in a physical way) to Daniel-San.

Thank you for your comments. Points well taken. I myself didn’t look @ it in such a negative light, I just saw it as 0’s way of showing respect.

Yes, I think you may well be right. He’s not only naive and ignorant, but he’s surrounded by advisers who know nothing about statecraft as well.

Still, it could have been a deliberate effort to defuse the bow to the Saudi King.

I doubt if that will work.

Bowing is nothing to Hussein. He grew up kissing the ground five times a day, indoctrinated into the insane muslim proposition that all indivduals are worthless and useful as nothing but fodder for the armies of allah.

The demeaning and denigration of all American institutions is one of Obama’s main goals, and every ounce of respect and dignity that the Indonesian/Kenyan can suck out of the Presidency goes a long way towards accomplishing his goals.

The US will not be able to weather another three years with this Anti-American in the White House. That is just an obvious fact that carries with it the obvious implications.

The protocol as I was taught doing business in Japan is to answer the Japanese's bow [wich is done to show respect] with one of equal depth as a show of respect - but never to lower your head lower than theirs.

Usually it worked out to just a mutual "head bob" with perhaps a very small bend at the waist.

Since we don’t have a clear and unobstructed photo of his encounter with the Saudi King there is no way to prove this, but it is my firm belief that he didn’t just bow to the Saudi King, but that he actually performed the “salaam”, the traditional Muslim gesture of obeisance and submission(peace). I base this on the astonished expressions on the onlookers’ faces in the photo. I believe they realized immediately what he had done, the symbolism of it, and the message that was being sent...

Note that in the Saudi pictures, his knee is bent, as if "making a leg" as the feudalists put it, so you may be very much correct..
