Obama Calls for Further Review of Missed Warning Signs & Motives of Fort Hood Shooter

November 14, 2009 6:01 AM

Miller ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports:

From Asia, President Obama devotes his weekly address to the domestic tragedy at Fort Hood, calling for a complete investigation so that the “full story” of the gunman’s motives and possible missed “warning signs” in the system is told.

“That investigation will look at the motives of the alleged gunman, including his views and contacts,” President Obama said alluding to Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, although not by name. “I am confident that justice will be done, and I will insist that the full story be told. That is paramount, and I won’t compromise that investigation today by discussing the details of this case.”

The president also called for the “potential warning signs” that may have been known prior to the shootings.

“We must uncover what steps – if any – could have been taken to avert this tragedy,” Obama said. “The purpose of this review is clear: We must compile every piece of information that was known about the gunman, and we must learn what was done with that information.”

If there was a failure to take appropriate action before the shootings, Mr. Obama said there must be accountability.

“Beyond that – and most importantly – we must quickly and thoroughly evaluate and address any flaws in the system, so that we can prevent a similar breach from happening again. Our government must be able to act swiftly and surely when it has threatening information. And our troops must have the security that they deserve.”

” I know there will also be inquiries by Congress, and there should.
But all of us should resist the temptation to turn this tragic event
into the political theater that sometimes dominates the discussion here in Washington.
The stakes are far too high.”

The Master of political theater telling Republicans to back off .

” But it’s unthinkable that so many would die in a hail of gunfire on a US Army base in the heart of Texas, and that a fellow service-member could have pulled trigger.”

Hey Barry, did you forget Sgt Hasan Akbar who killed 2 and wounded 14 members of the 101st Airborne at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait ?

” We owe our troops prayerful, considered decisions about when and where we commit them to battle to protect our security and freedom,
and we must fully support them when they are deployed. “ ...
As Commander-in-Chief, I won’t settle for anything less.”

Is it possible that Barry is too stupid to understand that we have thousands and thousands of soldiers already deployed ?
And waiting for support ?
Or are they just “ Bush “ soldiers , so, they don’t count ?

They are triangulating the situation politically. They will do everything in their power to change this from an act of Al-Qaida Jihadi terror to the act of a strained and stressed out Military memeber who happened to be Islamic.

The goal is to make Hasan the victim.

I am sure the liberals could have done the same for any of the 911 highjackers as well. The Oppression of America on the minds of those enslaved by the JIhad of some....

Such is the B.S. of our time.

All we can do is fight for justice and not let them get away with it.

Easy to do a review. Visit the indoctrination center where he went every week. Get a copy of the hate-handbook that he read faithfully.

It's the damn PC crap that's allowed this to happen - but the liars on the left couldn't see that if it was an inch in front of their noses.

So yeah, being the little lowlife criminals th at they are, the left will try to pin it on Bush - who did "bow" to the PC idiocy far too much.

But that's NOT what they get him on - they still back PC. Nope, they'll try to weaken that which is good about the military - and that which was good about President Bush. Dems are the brown shirts...

Since Barry seems to think that the world begins and ends with him, you are make an excellent point. Barry always tries to do what is best for Barry.

"I will insist that the full story be told"

... in the most politically correct, obfuscated, incomplete, and misdirected manner possible.

Hiding something, Mr. President???

BTTT. That's the very first thing that came to my mind.

It doesn't make any sense for the Kenyan Clown to prattle on about finding the "full story" — why on Earth wouldn't we expect that as a matter of course?

From reading this it is totally and completely clear that obambat has no understanding of the military complex or how it functions.
The obambat is commander in chief. When crap goes down the crap stink rolls uphill. In other words if you are a unit commander and your troops really screw up it will reflect on your career and your record. It does not matter if you were present at or knowledgeable of the situation. Your world screwed up so it must be lack of training or lack of something that you were responsible for. That is how the military has worked for centuries. Obambat and crew have installed and insisted on PC boundaries in the military. Because of this crap Fort Hood happened. Obambat is responsible in the same way that all military commanders are responsible for everything that happens on their watch. To the civilian world this may sound like a reach but stop and ask a vet. As you watch how things unfold you will see the president dodge any and all responsibility. He will do this with caring words as the military machine eats those closer to the situation. Nope, these are obambats policies, his responsibilities and his fault. You will not see him man up like his subordinate officers are going to have to do. How can we expect effective military leadership from a man who does not have a single day of military experience. In all official matters that are military he is an ignorant arrogant moron, and that is scary.

If they insist on making this shooter a victim they are going to have a civil war on their hands and the military will not be on their side.

Exactly. My dad used to be in the Army and he told me that his rule of thumb was to make a decision when he had at least 60% of the information in front of you. Many times you get above that, and that’s great, you lower your risk, but sometimes you have less, and you still have to make a decision.

His overriding principle was that inaction was worse than making a decision. Right or wrong, at least if you make a decision you can always adjust as new information or circumstances require.

Obama has no executive experience at all. He comes from legislatures which are deliberative bodies, where consensus building is the rule and no one has to really suffer the consequences for bad decisions. Prior to that he was involved in academia, law firms, and rabble-rousing.

The one most important job in the country that relies on being able to make a decision is the presidency and it is downright scary that so many were duped into voting for him. The presidency is not a place for on-the-job training.

I’d think it would be safe to say that most small business owners or military NCOs have more executive experience than Obama.

After almost 30 years in the service, I’d say your Dad is right.

“When a decision has to be made, make it. There is no totally right time for anything.” ~ General George Patton

“In a moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing to do. The worst thing you can do is nothing.” ~ Theodore Roosevelt

“When a decision has to be made, make it. There is no totally right time for anything.” ~ General George Patton

“It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.” ~ Thomas Sowell

“Be willing to make decisions. That’s the most important quality in a good leader.” ~ General George Patton

And one that seems to fit this President perfectly:
“Some persons are very decisive when it comes to avoiding decisions.” ~ Brendan Francis
