How low will the new American president go for the world's royalty?
This photo will get Democrat President Obama a lot of approving nods in Japan this weekend, especially among the older generation of Japanese who still pay attention to the royal family living in its downtown castle. Very low bows like this are a sign of great respect and deference for a superior.
To some in the United States, however, an upright handshake might have looked better. Remember Michelle Obama casually patting Britain's Queen Elizabeth on the back during their Buckingham Palace visit? America's royalty tends to make movies and get bad reviews and lots of money as a sign of respect.

I understand. And I agree whole heartedly with you. No way a US president should be bowing to anyone.
If there is any to be done behind closed doors, Obama should leave it up to his diplodinks, some of who just might be professionals, but somehow I am beginning to doubt that.
His new bow to the Japanese emperor continues to send the message America is subservient to all cultures and nations and no longer the superior beacon of freedom for the world.
Sad how anyone here at FR would deny MAO-bama's bow although most clearly see the bow and are repulsed.
Heads of state do not bow.
Apparently he realizes that he really is not a legitimate president, and thus is not a head of state.
Or maybe his protocol staff is incompetent - but I believe his arrogance has more to do with it. He will bow low to any that arent of European ancestry.
Remember King George?
After he bowed to the Saudi, some here echoed the cock and bull claim that “someone dropped something and Obama looked down.”
Does everyone now realize the truth?
How I loathe this disgusting traitor.
How I loathe this disgusting traitor.
There are cracks in the floor. Maybe he tripped. Thats as plausable an excuse as,,,”he did`nt bow to the Saudi King. He was just trying to pick up something off the floor.”
Yes!!!
Would that more remembered the Revolutionary war battle cry, “No King but King Jesus”!
Even more sad that so many here at FR are ignorant of the concept of satire and simply cannot comprehend that calling it a genuflection makes it even worse than a bow. But if you want to try to save face, be my guest.
But I won't bow to you to do so.
You gotta be kidding me. This President is a joke.
Either way, I think we still agree on our feelings about Barry.
